I don't know why anyone would want to be a mod here it is a pretty thankless job and then they have to put up with this BS.

I for one think the Mods here are pretty fair. I'm sure some have taken sides in an arguement. From what I have seen Dave has been really fair and unbiased as a mod. I respect Newman and like reading his posts but I think he wrongly attacked Dave.

Most including yourself (I think) knows where the line in the sand is.

As far as DrS is concerned I have seen him go after several trolls and scammers over the years and haven't been the least offended by his tactics. I for one think his cards are pretty hilarious. I wouldn't say Newman is a troll or scammer but I believe he was wrong about Dave and the way he handled it. He should of dealt with Dave through PM.

That's not the point. The cards are against FChat rules. Some people find nudity fun and still they get banned? Why is that? Ever see a fight in the bikini thread from posting pics? Nope. But you have seen people go at it over a **** you and **** off and you're a *****. What's the diff? Some might even find threats good fun, why should that person be banned? Oh that's right all of that is against the rules and depending on the mod and how friendly you are, you may get a ban or a PM saying "ease up".

You are correct and you hit the nail on the head. It is up to the Mod to decide how to handle each violation of the rules. If they know the person they might say ease up. That sometimes is all that is needed. The world is not black and white and thankfully neither is Fchat there are various shades of gray. I like this place the way it is. It don't take a rocket scientist to figure out how engage in conversation. Senority does determine (like it or not) how far you can push the envelope. If Newman was new here he probably would have been banned. But because people know him better he is given the benifit of the doubt. DrS is well respected here when he plays the cards they are for the most part very well deserved by whomever he played them on. Bottom line it is up to the mods and Rob to decide how to enforce the rules and when to and not to ban. Luckily they don't rule with an Iron Fist like you would like. Otherwise we wouldn't get to have such lively debates before people would get banned, threads erased or both.

I can't speak for other Mods, but...

Dr Stranglove has voluntarily served time and again - he could easily have passed on going back into harm's way - in a place where there aren't many rules of engagement from the other side - 'cause some ingrates who'd like to kill him and his buddies will stop at nothing - but he didn't take the easy way out and just stay home.

Instead, he made the choice based on the most real buddy system of all. He wasn't going to let another take very real flak if he felt he should have been in their place. What "flack" he gets here is nothing in comparison to the possibilities he faces every day. So, in the here and now, if he preaches a little tough love while tossing a little harmless internet flack someone's way, then so be it.

 

So the next time someone pisses me off or when I fell like butting in to take the side of an FChatter, I'll just have a weird picture with **** off and you're a ***** in it and all will be ok. I'm glad we're all on the same page. Great news.

 

I don't know how the mods would deal with you if you did. You definitely aren't making any friends among them. They certainly don't need your input thank God because Lord knows I would be long gone with the many times I have pissed in your wheaties. I know you don't particulary like authority but here they are the ones with authority to decide when or when not to ban or scold someone. They are human and can make a mistake but for the most part they are fair. I personally haven't talked to many here but what I have read from them here they are a good group of guys. Like I said there are gray areas (A concept that you seem to not be able to grasp). A member that has been here for a while and has earned the respect of the community will be tolerated a little more than someone new will.

 

That's exactly my point. If a favorite member or a friend of a Mod calls someone out and bashes them all to hell it's fine. If someone else does the exact same this or in some cases much less they can expect a ban. That makes my point about there being a bunch of different rules dependent on popularity.

When ever a mod is called out for being unfair, the first thing they write is "I'm even handed, I don't play favorites" and most often that just isn't true.

How can there be gray area when it clearly states what you can and can not do in the terms listed on the board?

And you piss in my Wheaties as much as I do your because we are very different and you're as much of an ass at times as anyone else. We all have our unflattering moments.

It's like a cop not getting arrested for a DUI because he knows the cop that pulled him over. That sort of thing happens everyday and if the higher ups came right out and said "we cut other officers slack when they screw up" the bombshell wouldn't be so bad.

Here it's more like, "even though you're defending yourself from my friend, I'm banning you because I don't want this to go on and as long as you're banned, it's over."

Just call it like you see it no matter who it is and no one would have an issue.

As a side note if someone is being an ass towards me I'll shoot back just as I would walking down the street.
