I will go through my negatives and see if I can have a print made for you. It will not happen right away as I am getting a car ready for the FCA National.

2500 posts! Wow this thing has a life of its' own.

    Jarrett,

My guess is the car is 004C when Henry Austin Clarke had if. The photo looks US and I did some work on 004C for Jim Clark. That looks very much like Jim's car.

004C it is! I think it's in the USA because of the side that the trailer number plate is on.

Henry Austin Clark is a neat character and an interesting story. His family owned several large sugar cane plantations in Cuba. They were well off by many standards. "Austie" as his firends called him was asigned to track down unloved and junk cars for the US war departments scrap metal program.
He literally had a license to search barns for old cars of any kind and order them to the scrap yard. During the process he came across some grand old cars and "squirelled" them away until after the war when ne opened a Museum in Eastern Long Island.
Stan Nowak convinced Austie to buy 004C for the Museum. It went to Dell's autobody to be restored at some point along with 002C. Jim Clark (Austie's son) says that the work was never completed and 004C left Dell's with fewer parts than when it arrived.
I am wondering if the photo of the car on a trailer was taken just before the trip to Dell's?
I am sure you know that Fidel Castro nationalised all the sugar cane plantations and one possible effect was that the Long Island Museum was closed. 004C went to Jim when his dad died and he restored the car and did much of the work himself.

If the US did not pay for the old cars, then this is stealing another persons property ... unless we are talking about during a world war or something?

Yes it was during WWII when all types of metal was need for the war machine. People even donated steel gates and fences that marked their land.
I believe that if your car was in working order and registered for the road you would not have a problem.
I hope I did not portray Austie as doing anything wrong, he did not.

I have shown the color photo and the enlarged one of the sticker to several people and posed the question to a modeling forum. A lot of people say it looks familiar and "looks like ....", but I have not come up with the answer yet. I keep thinking I have it on a model decal sheet somewhere, but I haven't found it if I do. I will keep it in mind..

Car #24 is Mike Parkes in the Maranello Concessionaires P2 0826? at the Guards Trophy meeting at Brands Hatch in 1965; car #1 looks like Piper's car, but that was always green - maybe it's 0826 again? Or the Protheroe car 0818 testing?

According to www.racingsportscars.com where it looks like some of those pictures are listed there, the #1 car is a Piper/Attwood car from 1966 Surfers Paradise 12 hour race. I never heard of it. Nice car though.

    Great pics!

I enjoyed looking back and forth between car #3 and 4 at the similaritites and differences. The nose and tail are obviously changed on four to achieve more down force and stability at speed.

Duh...........I should have looked at the photo names; and I should have spotted the McKay 250LM #3.

The #4 250LM has the Drogo nose which was similar to the Mike Parkes-developed long nose but with a wider intake; plus a big spoiler added at the back which is similar to what David Piper fitted to his 250LMs.

Yes like I said above I don't much about Fcar racing history but that website has a few pictures of me and an old Lola I used to own. So I dropped in there and found the above pictures. It doesn't look like they were posted before.

David, you are a wonder! I have already forwarded the photo of 250LM 6023 at the 1965 Le Mans driven by Langlois and Elde' to a Belgian friend. I am just afraid he is going to have an infarction.

You do not see very many pictures of this car as it's more famous "brothers" 6313 #26 got most of the limelight as it chased the winning NART, #21, 5893, of Rindt and Gregory.

    Please keep these coming.

Thanks for the color photo Bertocchi. This one is #5893 entered by the N.A.R.T. at Le Mans 1969. Pilot were Teodoro ZECCOLI and Sam POSEY. They finished 8th. Car looks tired after the race... But who has stolen the cavallino? #5893 won also Le Mans 1965 and I saw it in 1997 at the Indianapolis Museum.

Francis, Thank you for posting the photo. I have not seen it before. NART certainly got their moneys worth from the race cars they owned.
I did get to see the 65 winning car at Indy this year during the USGP.

Very nice David... I'm happy to see again this LM in the beautifull Indianapolis Museum! Here is another photo of the N.A.R.T. #5893, this time during verifications at Le Mans 1968. Pilots were Masten GREGORY/Charlie KOLB. Car DNF. I'm new on FerrariChat but I'll try to post some intersting stuff soon...
