When a glorious car such as this is restored why can't they at least get the font of the numbers correct? That would seem to be the easiest thing.
Do you or anyone happen to have a photo of the right side of this car? The numbers on the door have a strange overlay. Gil
Check the site of Peter Markowski! http://www.rpmvt.com/2007_04_01_archive.html There are more old photos his blog.
This one I like http://www.rpmvt.com/uploaded_images/LeMans-760501.JPG The pic was taken at the garage Ferrari and later Pozzi used at Le Mans. I asked for the street at Fchat two years ago. Was in the street in 2005, took photos of a garage at Rue Jean Macé, but still do not know if it it THE garage. There were a couple of buidlings more which it could be. Maybe now someone has a house number.............anyone? Does the trailer still exists, anyone?
I'm going to have to get down to Indy and have another go at the indy museum. I have been there probably a half dozen times but it is always good. I don't remember seeing the 250lm there before, but the exhibits rotate and they have three or four times as many as they can display at once. The rest are in the basement. Tom W
Beautifull photo with the cars on the transporter used by the N.A.R.T. The Daytona is #12467. Started with number 58. The 512S is #1006. Started with number 14. David posted this photo earlier with the same car on the truck, but inside the garage in Le Mans. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Beautifull photo with the cars on the transporter used by the N.A.R.T. at Le Mans 1971. The Daytona is #12467. Started the race with number 58. The 512S is #1006. Started with number 14. David posted this nice photo earlier, but it's inside the garage in Le Mans. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have just posted a new article about the Ferrari Daytonas which were entered in the IMSA Camel GT Challenge series. The url is here : http://alex62.typepad.com/imsablog/2007/07/ferrari-daytona.html Feel free to comment this post. Contributions are welcome, of course! Alexis
Three nice pictures here. Obviously the Kurtis based Bardahl Experimental, but it intrigues me that it is possibly Behra sitting in the cockpit. I can't seem to find any reference of Behra in the Bardahl. Anyone know any more? Copyright/photographer unknown. I am sorry I don't know the Behra connection but I do know that this car was on its' way to the Greenwich, CT junkyard when it was rescued by Nereo Iori. If it were not for him the car would no longer exsist. Not to hyjack your thread but this one was requested by my friend "Gramps". Image Unavailable, Please Login
Every time I see a photo of a 250 LM, yes only photos as I have yet to be lucky enough to see one in the flesh, my hate of replicas reduces a little as the only way I would ever own "almost" one would be to create a replica, a homage to simply one of the greatest cars ever made period! But ofcourse it would not be the same, it would just be as close as I could get (without using any Ferrari parts ... as that is a no no, better used for restoring a real one). Oh well ... Pete
I would have said that was a bit before Behra's time. I looked in my floyd clymer's ferrari handbook and found the picture of the kurtis ferrari in hopes of seeing a pic with a driver in it. NO luck....the picture incorrectly labels it as a v12....I suppose they counted the spark plug wires and thought the twin cam covers were individual rocker covers for separate banks of cylinders. Giuseppe "Nino" FARINA is sitting in the Bardahl-Ferrari. Note O.S.C.A on the overall from man on left. This car was assembled at the Officine Specializzate Costruzioni Automobili of the Maserati brothers in Bologna. The car was entered at Indianapolis in 1956 but DNS. I found this nice photo on Internet and you can see some OSCA batchettas behind the Bardahl. Maybe someone has recenter photos of this interesting car? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fantastic and very nice pictures. Afflicted for you; it is not Jean Behra but the great Dottore Giuseppe, Emilio "Nino" Farina. (rip: 1906 october 30/1966 june 30; died in an accident between Genevre and Turin) Oops ! excuse me “Giotto”; too late for me, I had not read your precision.
David, Wonderful photo of 6313 at Le Mans in 1965. Entered by Ecurie Francorchamps it was driven by Dumay and Gosselin into second place behind Rindt and Gregory (and Hugus?) after leading the race, I believe, and then throwing a tire tread 3 hours before the end of the race destroying the right rear fender. I really appreciate these photos. Gramps
I found this in a Le Mans history book. You see the damage on the rear. The car is seen after the tire was changed. I have another photo but will post it later. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Francis, You are a most welcome addition to our group. Thank you for your contributuions along with all of the regulars. It is my opinion that this is the best Ferrari thread anywhere!! David

Thanks for the replies with the Bardahl. Seeing that were on 250LM's, as they're such beautiful cars, i thought i'd rake through my photos and came up with these. Interesting photos with 250 LMs... Yes, that's Edoardo LUALDI, maybe at the Coppa Gallenga 1965 with start number 516? Very nice picture with Nino VACCARELLA at the Sierra-Montana hillclimb 1964.
