Anyone know where I can find R12 in the B'ham, Atlanta, Nashville area??

The REAL R12 not the 134 masked as "Freeze 12"

An automotive AC shop should have it or at least access to it.

Know a specific one up in your area? I'll do the drive, I just need to know who to call.

There is a little auto air shop near the Omni (Mike Carter 404-524-2577)he had several R-12 jugs lying around the last time I was there. There has to be some over in Alabama. What are you looking for juts a top off?

That R12 is expensive stuff. I worked part time at an auto parts dealer last summer for a little extra money and we where selling 20lb containers for $599 as fast as we could get them.

Paid $15/lb. a year ago - $50/lb. this year - the 20 lb containers tend to leak - which is very expensive, so many people buy it in 1 lb. containers - which makes all that more expensive.

Ask for Jeff - I didn't see the containers personally, but I do trust them.

R-12 is readily available just pricey. I think the last time I was looking to buy a 30 lb. jug it was in the high $500 range.

Hey Tommy, before I was a Hunter rep, I worked at Dyas Toyota in Auburn. The parts manger there is a good friend of mine still, and I know for a fact he has cases of the cans. He wouldbe happy to sell them. Email me is you can't find any, I live a mile from the dealership. [email protected]

Not that this would bother me but it is technically illegal for anyone t buy R12 who is not a licensed A/C repair station. People, can and do, sell and buy it but it is violating EPA laws.

There is plenty of this stuff (real R-12) for sale on e-bay as well. You have to either give them your refrigerant license number or a written statement saying it is for resale.

Tilden car care in roswell has R-12. We just had our 1986 4Runner redone
with a new compressor and loaded with R-12. Blows ice chunks now...
