My car has been ready for two weeks. I bought it almost three months ago, and the major service is complete. I'm very ready and anxious. My guy at Indy's Premier Motorcars had two transports scheduled, but the truck broke down on one, and the other took an auction with four cars over my one. I've decided to help in the search. Anybody here on the forum transport cars professionally or gives discounts to forum members? Open transport is OK if I'm on the top, but closed is prefered. But I really need it affordable (cheap). My budget has been shot all to heck on this car. I need it here for my Birthday party August 4th.
Can anyone help? I've got bid requests in the three operations mentioned the most using the search function. Just thought I'd check with you guys.

There is a thread in the Rcky Mtn section with mention of at least 3 shippers. Might be worth a shot to call one of them.

A fellow FChatter used Demoise to get his 74 Euro 308GT4 transported and said they were very affordable AND very easy to work with/nice.

i called Bill Demoise to see about picking up my pantera in California and bringing it here to me. he called me back in about 10 minutes to tell me he had a truck in the area, and the price was fair, as i have moved alot of cars in the last 2 years coast to coast.

my Pantera is set to be delivered this weekend sometime, and so far Demoise has been excellent to deal with.

beejay, I know your budget is shot, but I would NOT go open transport. I had a long talk with the driver who brought my car about what can happen to cars on open transport. Not a pretty picture. Seriously difference from indy to CA might be $600-800 or so between open vs closed, after you've spent close to 50K or more to get your car in top shape its worth it.

    Just my $.02

I talked to Bill today. You are right. Nice guy, called me right back, decent price. Unfortunately he can't get the car here by 4 August. I really want the car here for my Birthday.

where's Jonathan Peck when you need him? He's in the Texas section - he has transported a couple of cars for me from around the country. Highly recommend.

One man shop. He got nothing done on my car when the Indy 500 and Formula One circus came to town. I made the mistake of saying "take your time, do it right, I don't need the car till August 4th"

Oh well at least it's done. I would look up Jonathan Peck. He's in the Texas section and has trucks running all over the country - all of them enclosed I believe. I think his crews are in CA quite a bit.

No, I think Bee Jay bought the car for sub $50, then spent the rest on the service. If it was a "major" major (that means done right), sounds about right to me.

Major, major, plus new clutch. I tried to contact a few other transporters tonight including Jonathan Peck. Left messages and emails. Hopefully I hear from someone tomorow. You would think one of these transporters would be Fchat sponsors.

I wish I seen this thread yesterday as I was in Indy on my way to cali. My wife and I operate an enclosed transport company I would of given a fellow f-chater a good deal, sorry.

Aw man!!!!!. Just my luck. Tell us more, we need an enclosed transport company that's also a f-chater that we can call on. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that has needed, or will need transport help.

Edit: I looked up I'm Gone. Here is his web site. Hey, he's gotta be alright cause he owns a C3 Vette also. I wish I had called him last week.

    BJ, drive the car.

If you don't drive it now, you'll never really drive it.

All you need is a cheap southWest air ticket from Cali, too...

Believe me, I've thought about it. But my family from Texas starts arriving July 28th, and I need to take some time off to spend with my Momma and my sisters. I can't say welcome to Cali, I'll be back in a week. Or I can't spend any time with you all cause I just got back from Indy. I know the service is a good one, but I'd like to put the first few hundred miles on it close to home, just in case. If I had it to do over agian, I would definitely find a car closer to home, like that '94 348 Challenge in the Bay area.

Beejay, I'm telling you, fedex will get it there in time. Good guys to deal with. They were no more expensive than DAS which seems to be one of the biggest. Based on my rates, I'm guessing $2K enclosed to california...Not sure how much cheaper you can get.. maybe 1500? But if you want it for your birthday, it might be worth it. Anyhow, if you are interested, On the fedex site look for "custom critical" and the auto transport for the phone number.

Thanks. Their quote (Fedex) is $1825. Delivery on or before Aug. 6th. Demoise was $1450, but could not make August 4th. Did you use Fedex. How were they?

Sorry but FedEx is not good, in fact I hear the former owner (Passport sold to FedEx refuses to use them because they are so bad). Call Reliable, they have a professional staff, not former delivery men for drivers.

Have used reliable many times, in fact we used reliable to transport many prototype ( show and picture vehicles ) on various photoshoots throughout the U.S. for weeks at a time. Never had a problem and always courteous.
