Anyone know the green (Pino Verde) '83 GTS on ebay right now? Seems like a well-cared for car. Has anyone here seen it? How common is that color?
Welcome! It's a very rare color actually the only one I've seen was about that year, and a Platinum Winner in it's class at the Ferrari French Quarter Classic in 2004... Can you post a link, we offer a free FleaBay Criticism Service here.......
Sorry, meant to post the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260139232488
That's as good as it gets as far as condition, and you also have the 'long time owner changes in life's condition forces sale" factor.. The show awards are the THIRD green light on the deal, pardon the pun..... I don't think that's the car I saw in New Orleans though.....a shame it's gonna be hard to inspect personally maybe post in SC Regional Section????
Note the bidding activity that will go white hot as the end approaches, are you in there on it????? Maybe use sniping software????
Of course green will always be considered an 'off' color in our world, but in a sea of red ones at the shows they come as a welcome relief to the eyes......
I love that car and I've been watching it all week to see what kind of interest it generates. I've only seen one other green 308 in my life, and that one was in Briarcliff Manor, NY in the mid 1980's. It looks to be in amazing condition along with the fantastic color scheme.
I saw it first, that means no one else here can bid on it, right? Nah, I leave it up to fate. If it's happens, it was meant to happen. I'm actually looking for a 328 GTS, but the green is so pretty...
Well I'd say that will hold value well, a pampered car obviously.... Go forth and Kick Azz, my son.......LOL! No, we mostly all have one (two, three) here, so hopefully no one will Bird Dog your interest......
I'd say well bought all the way to $35K, what's the Market Guide $$$ on this year, anyone? 30K original miles WITH the 30K Service done, that's incredible! The 15K services are pretty heavy lifting, if you are unfamiliar with the maintenance schedule......you stuff money under the seat as you drive, in order o be ready.....
No, he spent it when he did the service 500 miles early! Sometimes you find exotic chemicals in the ashtray though, probably not as this seems a mature owner.. More common on the Florida cars to find that 'stuff'......
It could be very nice. I think it's so far out in the sticks that you kind of have to buy it and pray. Looks decent: on the plus side it's had conscientious owners, and this guy's an FCA member. You can also tell it's been kept clean - you can see how the gauge chrome is scratched and dash has the usual smudging from regular wiping. Other good: Original key fob, interior hasn't been drilled up for hi-fi crap, engine bay looks good from what you can see of it - correct UFI oil filter. 90 points isn't perfect, but it would have had to have been a nice car at the time (14 years ago). On the minus side, the photography is useless, though, and the car is parked on grass/dirt. I think the owner posted the same photo twice a couple of times, and we can't really see the seat bolster, or any of the scratches mentioned. And a metallic green Ferrari is a bit, er, unique.
Given the age it should have been on its 60k service with lots of service in between. Wonder if the car has been properly serviced during its life??? Beautiful car though. I guess the guys knows what needs done but it seems strange that the maintenance intervals were not followed. The color isn't very pretty IMO but it surely is rare! A Ferrari Pickle...a new one to me.
I would think this car is what it is... a real beauty. It has taken two of the most coveted awards in the Ferrari world.. unless its been abused since, which the pics surely don't show..it hopefully should be a great for someone when the smoke settles. Oh, and love the off color!!
Hookem, how's Austin these days? I did my gradual (err, graduate) work there at the U, but haven't been back since. I seemed like the city was growing (too?) fast.
Everything is good in Austin (don't tell anyone though).. Best thing about it is that we have that hill country to drive around on the weekends. The sports car guys love it here!

Those look like tobacco-colored carpets as well. The buyer certainly played by his own rules. It would be interesting to see in person. Couple of other notes: I wonder how the top stows with the fire extinguisher tucked behind the driver's seat. Maybe he keeps the seat forward? Also, in the who-really-cares-but-is-Dr-Tommy-online department, is that black section to behind the targa top, but on the roof, OEM? That flowing line that runs behind the top (and above the rear quarter grilles) is one of those subtle things that most people never notice, but in person it makes the GTS version very elegant.
60K serivice? It's only showing 30K miles! That thing shines like new, quit dogging this car, it's beautiful...... Deep spoiler, as noted no goofy stereo mods, this one has obviously been 'above the fray' for quite some time....... All the green ones I've seen, both of them had the darker tobacco interiors it goes well with the green.
He probably rarely removed the roof, he mentions arthritis, that'd be a deterrent to slinging that panel around......
Also for future reference might as well note the the Glasurit code is 601/C. I didn't see this color/code on the nwrfca website: http://www.nwrfca.org/faq/colors.html wonder why?
Here's the one you saw, Bubba. Barry Cross' car (third one down). Not the one on eBay. It's a head-turner for sure. Nice color! Image Unavailable, Please Login
