Aftermarket work on such cars devalues them

and while 8k miles isn't much to normal cars, it may be a bit much to consider this a 'no stories/ low miles' F40... and as you can see, its not a 'no stories car' with the upgrades.

It may still be priced high at 395...

Sheehan must have got the car back from the person he sold it to. Could have sworn he had the exact same car for sale about two years ago.

    Jeff,
It appears that he has had the car for sale before. Did you consider this car before picking up yours? ( Just curious as to why you passed on it if it is indeed the same car. )

    Regards,
    Chris

I wasn't looking at the time or I would have bought it. As you can imagine it was priced considerably less a few years ago before values started climbing!

That explains it. What threw me off was the pics. They are the same ones he used when it was for sale in 2004. Car probably looks exactly the same way it did back then so he figured it wasn't necessary to reshoot new ones.

For what it's worth to anyone interested in it ... the upgrades add value in my opinion. If someone wants "stock" then this is not the car for them but if you're an enthusiast who likes to drive and doesn't mind some upgrades - these are good ones to have on a F40.

My car has upgraded intercoolers, upgraded brakes, rotors and larger wheels, and an adjustable suspension system; it is powerful, stops quickly and I think is worth more to me in this manner. However, 395,000 is a decent price for an F 40 in today's market....it is one great car

Since I'm in search of an F40, I called Mike as soon as I saw this thread.......It's gone already!!!!! You really have to move incredibly fast in this market.

Market=willing buyer & willing seller, no? Seems to me that this was "market" priced, or at the very least within the range of market pricing. Cheers.

Maybe the price was lower because it doesn't have all the original parts? I've got lots of upgrades on mine, but I still have all the original bits neatly wrapped in boxes. :)

It would make yours even more valuable but I still think the one Sheehan had was "below market" for what it was. I would have started the price at $435k using the upgrades as a selling tool. Whether the eventual buyer would have considered them to be a good thing or not would have determined where I ended up. Nevertheless ... I personally think it was a good car (with good documented history) at a good price. Hopefully the new owner drives it and enjoys it for the superb machine that it is! :)

The Nero F50 that sold this week was gone within 1 hour of it being offered to a good friend...
