IF YOU LEAVE IT PARKED IN THE GARAGE.... WHY OWN IT!!!! MY 348 SPYDER IS GRAY, SO IT DOESN'T STAND OUT LIKE THE RED OR YELLOW ONES! THATS WHY i BOUGHT IT. I THINK ITS THE BEST YEAR & MODEL OF ALL THE FERRARIS & I'VE OWNED ALOT OF MODELS THROUGHOUT THE YEARS,(250s TO 360s). I DRIVE IT EVERY DAY ITS NICE. THEY ARE RELIABLE!!!! IF SOMEONE WANTS TO KNOW HOW FAST IT GOES,... I TRY TO BE NICE ,...BUT DON'T ,(MOST TIMES), STOP & TALK, LONG. I'M NOT A SNOB ABOUT IT . IF A KID ASKS , & I AM IN A HURRY, I'LL TELL ITS A KIT CAR SO THEY DON'T MESS WITH IT, BUT IF I HAVE TIME I'LL LET THEM LOOK ALL THEY WANT. (I BOUGHT MY FIRST IN ATLANTA A 308 OWNED BY NIGEL OLSEN,(DRUMMER FOR ELTON JOHN , IN ABOUT `79), SOLD MY PANTERA , I HAD THEN ,AND AFTER OWNING TONS OF CORVETTES,.... NEVER BOUGHT ANOTHER CORVETTE AGAIN!!!). LAW ENFORCEMENT IS THE ONLY REASON TO BE WORRIED ABOUT DRIVING ONE . THEY ALL LOOK LIKE THEY ARE GOING 100 MPH. JUST SITTING STILL!!! IF YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE WIFE ,... YOU BELONG IN A SUPRA!! OR.. GET A NEW , YOUNGER PRETTIER WIFE!),..THEY WERE MADE TO BE DRIVEN !!! NOT JUST LOOKED AT!!

I have a 360 Spider and I don't care who knows or not. I don't bring it up, but if somebody else does, I have no problem with talking about it. I have not let my mother know about it, however. :) I also don't agree that everybody in SoCal is showing off their wealth, they just don't care who knows.

I try to be discreet about my Mondial, but that doesn't preclude me from driving it to work on Fridays (or nice days.) Like Ferrari-boy, I too purchased a color other than Red (though I really like Rossa Corsa), mainly because I wanted to remain understated since I'd be driving with my wife and son on the weekends. Although my car is grigio, my colleagues/staff noticed my car in the parking garage immediately.

I won't disguise the fact that I have a Mondial, but I don't advertise it as well. As far as I'm concerned, I own the vehicle to please me, so as long as I enjoy driving it, that's all that matters.

I'm so secretive I haven't even told you guys about it yet...

Seriously, just waiting for an opportunity to get some decent photos so I don't get roasted for not including them with my post.

I will not tell anyone at work about my toy but I did tell my family and a couple close friends.

Had a nice conversation with a client this afternoon, after he noticed the 7ft Ferrari Clock in the shop, he kind of opened up a little bit.
He said he has a 308 (red), 328 (Blk) 355 (forgot the color) and said only his immediate family know about them..

He was once at a gas station a long time ago with his 308, and ran into a customer of his. His customer said "are you charging too much?"
He never got a call from that customer again.

ever since he has pretty much kept it a secret.

At least I got it out of him :D But that Clock has a track record of doing that :)...

Coworkers, whether below you or above you on the pay scale never need to know. Unfortunately most people don't comprehend the passion for the car and immediately associate ownership with exorbitant money which is often far from true. I drive my 150k mile Toyota to work and roar in my cavallo rosso on the weekends only. My wife, however, DOES notice the red beast in the garage!

For me, I am still waiting to pick my f-car up, but I have told my family and a few close friends about it, all the reactions from that camp have been excited for me as they all know me well enough to understand I have worked this hard for this long to get to the position to be able to afford my dream, a Fcar.

However, my boss that has become a close friend for the last 10 years has changed his attitude towards me. A bit of background-we have been Porsche 911 owners over the last 3 years and he understands my passion for Ferrari, his gift to me for my birthday every year is the latest Ferrari book, we have recently shared a holiday to an island for a fishing trip and we share a passion for motor sport and usually be found with our competition cars together at local race events, that said, when I told him I had pulled the trigger on my first Fcar, his response was "trying to show me up are you?" I laughed it off but I don’t think he was joking, he now no longer calls me up on the weekend for a friendly chat, to add salt to his wound, his wife-the main reason he dose not already own a Fcar as he is well in the position to purchase such an item, every time I see his wife she makes a comment regarding the new car and when will she get to go for a ride in it. The look on his face sums up the feeling that he must not be comfortable knowing he will no longer own the nicest car at his business. The thing he should realise is that it is not solely from working for him that I am in this position, its investments that he also could have made that have put me into this position.

At this point these are the only people who know about it and apart from my boss its been very positive, once the car arrives plenty more people will find out, but those who are not close to me can think what they like, I have worked very hard to get this far, I have been fortunate on investments and made the decision to make my dream come true, I will not hide the car but I will not tell people about it, if they see me in it then I will give them a wave and stop to chat if time permits, I AM BUYING IT FOR ME, not for anyone else. To hell with those that cant handle my success, we are all very fortunate people to be in the position to own these cars, but in the same way, anyone has the ability to do what I have done. 10 years ago I had 25k in debt and a low income job, now I have a heap of cool things, property, money in the bank and a Fcar on the way, 23 years old with a 911 and 26 years old with a Fcar. With a few exceptions everyone has the same ability to get where I am, it is their priorities that determine their goals and dreams.

You are when you crash into a brand new car with no insurance. Even if the circumstances prevented me from being able to avoid this accident, wrong place at the wrong time. Since I have had insurance, I have not had a claim, funny how that works.

The above is why one has to remember that -any- relationship on the job is primarily a biz relationship first, and personal second.
Goes with the old line about getting at company parties and the next day everyone at work knowing about it.
Also not a good idea to date co-workers, unless you're gonna end up marrying them :)
Most(but not all) managers have a problemo with 'subordinates' one upping them, whether house, car, toys, or whatever.

My 7 year old 5 series BMW generates far more negative comments from acquaintances and clients than my Ferrari does. I guess around here at least to many people BMW = pretentious status symbol while Ferrari = insanely dedicated enthusiast who knows a lot about cars.

In my industry many people are car nuts. Usually when someone finds out I have a Ferrari they bug me nonstop to see the car and to get a ride.

    Well,

Seems I have most of you "beat......" on the down side. I am just a lowly civil servant working for the US Government. Now and then having to put yourself in a position where somebody trying to blow you up just doesn't pay very well. Never has, never will, but I choose that life. Makes it more interesting for me.

When I began saving and investing my money almost 30 years ago, I did not have enough money to even pay attention. But after many years and living like rat, sometimes litterally, I saved and made enough in the stock market to pay for and properly maintain a F-Car without taking a bite of food from my family's mouths or denying a single shingle over my family's head. Seems most of you here make a &^$%-load more than I, but I couldn't care less. Actually I am very happy for you and your success. I like to hang around and count as my friends successful people, as it tends to rub off and I learn more and can better my own success. You guys are my mentors and teachers in more ways than one.

No, I do not tell anyone I own one ('81 308 GTSi). Only 2 people outside of my wife, mother, father and brother know. If someone spills the beans then I will likely admit it after some arm twisting. But until then, Nah. Drive it to work? Not a chance. When it is time to renew my security clearance, it is going to be tough to explain (I'll have the Bill-of-Sale on-hand if the subject comes up) as people think you must be rich or doing something dirty to own one. My stock portfolio and the fact I own a house are always issues here too.

It just aint worth it for people to know, even though my coworkers drive much more expensive cars than I (Star-Cars, BMWs, etc.). BTW, my other car is a VW Polo, 3-Banger. Love the gas milage. :) I'll just have to continue to work hard, save lots and wait to be able to add another F-car to my stable.

    May your successes continue.

I'm getting my first F-car(348) by the end of the year, i havent told anyone except my parents... i'm keeping it that way until i have it! After that i will drive it around every time i can, i guess i'll take it to work sometimes! dont really care about what other people think or say!
I have a tuned up VW Corrado and people make too much of a fuss about a 17 year old car! too many bad commentaries, but i just dont give a.... so i can only imagine what they will say about the F-car! but who cares?!?! I work 10 to 12 hours a day in my fathers company!! And I come home with him and we discuss work! while all of his employes go home at 5 pm and have a nice evening... i dont complain because im getting what i've been working for:) a beautiful red Ferrari 348:)
They are kind of cheap here in portugal... 30k€ to 65k€... a freaking Audi A4 TDI cost about 40k€... so i guess you dont have to be that rich after all, i just dont have any expenses... no children... no wife... nothing:D

I keep my mouth shut about all the other cars than my daily. Too many haters. I wish it was easier to say that you own a relatively expensive car and people would say "good for you my friend" instead of "what did you do to get that?". I buy my cars for personal joy and tint the windows, don't like the attention. Under the radar is my style.
