I don't know what to do. Its NEVER happened to my GT4 before. I pulled into the drive, I swear I was just going to grab another cup of coffee. When I came out......look what happened to her. RAINED ON !! We've all been dealing with such serious topics as the repair of Jim's car, John's first 100 miles, cars with checkered histories that others don't know about, and the continuing rise in GT4 selling prices. So I thought I'd lighten things up a bit. Have a nice afternoon all. Image Unavailable, Please Login
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooo sorry to hear this Dave! How are you going to handle the diminished value? The unbelievable amount of rust that is certainly coming your way? What will people say? JIM <grin>
The least you guys could do in my time of crisis is comment on how the water beads up and the nice wax job.
I feel your pain! It only got wet on the topsides, which look adequately protected by wax. At least you didn't have to actually drive it on... A WET ROAD (the horror!)
Yep, she's an 'ol piece of **** now. Guess I better cut her lose and go look at the Caribou car. <laughing> I guess so. Is that before, or after, the above referenced respray?
$12.5K PS: Then I can sell mine to Tillman and still use Phylotic generous offer to get the Carobu car!
All I can say is that atleast mine only got crashed into...Rain, now that's a whole different story. Better take that $12.6K offer Dave, that may be as good as it gets.! LOL!
Nice to see you guys are having so much fun at the expense of my (once beautiful) car. BUT WAIT....... Wasn't that the whole idea of this thread?
Dave, We all feel for you! I certainly hope that that... dare I say it?.... rain.... did fall on your now lump of rust when it was parked on the driveway?? I mean, you didn't actually DRIVE through that wet stuff, now did you??? Oh horror, the thought of what that must have done to your windshield wipers!!!! Hans P.S. I feel a "most obnoxious GT4 photo" competition coming up. May I try to get second place (after the truly obnoxious photo that started this thread)??? December 30, on a ferry between Venice and Lido (Italy), after just having crossed the Alps in the snow. Yes, that's road salt.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
GEEZ, Dave. I'm so sorry for you. But look on the bright side. you couldda gone inside for a few minutes in Colorado, and been hit with hail, then sun, and the melted hail on your hood looking like rain drops... only to dry it off, and find that the rain drops were just the melt hail inside the divots left by the pelting hailstorm. So, rain ain't so bad. Two years ago in July I went to the Pikes Peak Hillclimb with my then M5. All the pickup truck guys laughed at me as I covered my car with two covers (one padded, and one exterior waterproof all while the sun was out in the early morning. By the mid afternoon, clouds rolled in so thick that you couldnt find your way back off the mountain (approx 14,000 feet)... lightning followed inside the clouds (which you were in the middle of, unprotected), hail began and changed to heavy corn-snow. About four inches fell. Luckily I snuck inside the car underneath the cover for about an hour listening to the other cars get pelted. After the storm passed, we all had to wait it out while they got the snowplows up the hill after the partial hillclimb race (it was canceled to the top, and they only ran half way). My pickup truck buddies were awfully silent after that. Now, I ALWAY carry a car cover to protect from disasters like yours. Just glad you were OK. John
Oh well, another nice GT4 down the drain... If I were you, I'd just accept the $12k and change. You might also consider parting it out, but it depends on how much rain you got. If just the shell is ruined, you could still sell off the engine, chasis, etc. DId the wheels get wet too? If so, total loss on those. Damn Rain. Thanks for the Sunday Funny. Dom
DO NOT encourage him while we are in the process of dismantling his car!!! Now he is going to think he can keep it or something... Dave, I'll go 12,655.95...that's one helluva offer for basically a 'totalled' car... Who leaves thier GT4 in the rain anyway? Thanks for the entertainment! JIM
Let's be realistic about this....he's going to have to knock off at least another 4-5K for the salvage title
