Do someone remember Senna (Toleman) stealing six seconds to Prost (McLaren) per lap under the rain? Some clips about that race?
From itv site re-post Fernando Alonso has apologised to Felipe Massa for accusing the Brazilian of instigating contact with him when he passed him for the lead of the European Grand Prix with four and a half laps remaining. The McLaren driver scored his third win of the season at the Nurburgring after pulling off an audacious outside pass on Massa in wet conditions. The pair momentarily banged wheels as Massa tried to defend his position, prompting a heated exchange of words in parc ferme after Alonso accused his rival of unfair tactics. A few minutes later, however, in the post-race press conference, the winner accepted that the contact was unintentional and Massa had done nothing untoward. It was so close, said Alonso. The racing line was getting drier so to overtake you needed to go a little bit on the outside or the inside, on the wet part. We touched each other two times and I apologise to him (Massa) because I was so stressed when I finished the race because we nearly didnt finish the race. Now I try to enjoy the victory and forget everything. When asked what he had against Massa, Alonso replied nothing, nothing at all and insisted the matter was now closed. As I said, I will not talk any more about this, he said. If I say something to him I apologise already in front of everybody, so I want to enjoy the win and there is nothing at all. I was not too happy at the end of the race because we touched each other but now, five minutes later on the podium, I realised that this is motor racing, so I will not talk any more. Massa accepted Alonsos apology and robustly defended his own driving. I don't have anything against anybody, I just do my race and I follow the rules of the sport, thats all, he said. If somebody tells me something I did wrong and I didnt, I will be unhappy. That is normal. But if he has apologised, then thats fine. He knows he was not right after the race.
Is a HUMAN before a driver, is normal what's happened. Our problem is that someone needs to teach Felipe to drive under the rain.
The SPEED footage of them in the weigh room was fantastic. It almost looked like a fight was going to break out.
I don't know what they were saying but it looked that they were ready for a fight. It was a good exciting race and Alonso just drove better in the rain.
To be honest I was glad to see Massa upset it must mean alot to him and shows he wants to win instead of just rolling over and accepting it...
great post. when Massa doesn't puts up a fight, ppl call for his head, and it same even as he puts up a fight.
Bottom line is that I didn't see anything that Alonso did wrong. He brought on the fight, and won. Massa is upset because he lost - I can't blame the guy for that. As far as the contact made - I saw that as a racing incident - neither were to blame, or both were to blame.
according to the news.. Massa was upset because Alonso insisted that the contact was intentional. I don't think it's a biggie though.. I think Hamilton getting put back on track is a bigger issue. I'm surprised no one is paying attention to that...
Oh, I definitely noticed that. Also, him being able to unlap himself when he was already in the back of the pack seemed to be favoritism as well. I figured it would have been talked about in the spoiler thread - I just didn't feel like reading through 500+ posts to find it!
In F1 drivers are paid to "put on" a spectacle - which includes overtaking Alonso demeans his considerable talent by whingeing off track - he'd be far better concentrating winning on it.
...can you imagine that would have been Kimmi, or Massa...or even M.Schumacher! ...For me it was absolutely UNFAIR...they should have done that to all other 5 cars on that corner in the name of the SHOW...who cares if they stalled the engines...push them once in the track then, BE FAIR TO ALL OR NONE!!!! ...and then they gave him the "lucky dog"????...it´s OUTRAGEOUS ,I cant even think of it happening to a SPYKER or SUPER AUGURI ..Rule sais if on an DANGEROUS position amid the scape zone, then PUSH HIM BACK on track, if stalled, then CRANE it out of zone into the barrier... NOT CRANE IT OUT WITH DRIVER IN BACK ON TRACK!...What if Lussi crashes real hard against the CRANE TIRE and brakes a leg or a toe...or kills himself, then the McLaren falls on his head!!! you get the IDEA?...they did CRANE it WITH driver IN...I read somewhere that it was NOT POSSIBLE to do THAT just safety wise...
I agree, and although I really like Hamilton and admire how he has handled himself under the "rising star" pressure, what happened with him being hoisted back on track seems pretty unusual. I don't claim to be an expert but I have never seen that done before. I wonder who made the decision? Has there been any mention of it in the German press?
I dont get Alonso being mad??? this is racing, he pulled off a great move.... Massa was just defending his line. I seem to remember way back when- when it was real racing that the person overtaking takes responsibility for the outcome??? I thought it was poor sportsmanship on Alonso's part to make the fuss he did right when he got out of the car...all the shaking of his finger etc... at least on the surface they call it racing... you have to try to pass folks... everybody cant just let you thru!
FA is just being FA, that's all. Like him or not, he is a talented driver and a worthy WC. They are race car drivers, and in the heat of the moment anything can happen. He realized that he was wrong in accusing FM for crashing into him during battle, and he apologized to FM openly and IMO, that's the end of it.
@ what GP I'm sure I have a video but if you can tell me the GP and year you can save me a lot of time.
