Hi guys ! As some of you know last year I did kind of Euro trip around most important automotive places . This year I have decided to repeat such a trip but I wanted to focus on the vintage cars this time ! My plan was to visit classic division of Porsche in Stuttgart , Kienle of Mercedes and Ferrari Classiche in Maranello ! I didn't forget about history routes of Porsche comp. I couldn't make it last year , so this time it was a perfect moment to do that ! The first ever Porsche was made in Gmund ( Austria ) . The barn where the 356 No. 1 was constructed still stands there. On my travel map , I marked Zell am See where Porsche family becomes from. The Porsche Design is located there as well as Porsche family tomb. Lovely places ! In Stuttgart I had a great chance to see the original 550 spider and 904 GTS . Porsche freaks from all over the world are servicing their cars there ( USA , Europe , UAE , Canada ). I have to say that the most impressing place there ,was workshop where all the engines , gearboxes etc. are being restored. No rush , no worries ....... make it perfect. That's how I would describe it ! Many of the workers in this division are working for Porsche since a long time. They remember when 917s , 906s were wining all the important races - I think it's great cause they know they profession very well ! It doesn't mean that this division is closed for youngsters ! Not at all ! Kienle is located in the way between Stuttgart and Weissach where Porsche engineering center is located. No photos allowed there but trust me that it looks unbelievable ! It's like building high end cars......just instead new exotics the 300SL , W113 , W108 , 300C ,190 SL rolls out ! Real German precision of car building ! After spending two days in Capitol of Porsche I moved to Gmund thru Zell am See. My biggest achievement there, was visiting the Ferdinad Alexander "Butzi " Porsche's private office ! You can't imagine how a huge part of automotive history that place is ! It was a great honour to me , especially that last year I had a chance to be in the office of Porsche AG founder-Ferry Porsche. Gmund is a cute small town with pretty well equipped private Porsche museum. My bullet point of that place was "the barn" where everything started (Porsche AG) ! It still belongs to Porsche but only one hangar survived ! The best think about all this places are.....sight views. Just perfect - full of beautiful mountains and small tiny waterfalls ! It really makes you wanna live there ! After "Porsche routes" it came time for ......... Maranello ! I have to say that each year I love it more !!! Similar to Porsche visitation I had a private tour around Ferrari Classiche division including archives which are STUNNING !!! I saw the car building records/blueprits signed by Enzo himself ! Once again....pictures not allowed ! They had few standard old Ferraris and few top of the range classics including MM winners ! Serious cars and serious customers ! I was also at Zanasi and Toni Scuderia workshop - nice stuff there this time ! Two nights at Maranello was enough for me and I started heading home. Next stop..........Stelvio Pass. I tell you guys, none of pictures or words can describe that road ! If anyone have a chance to go there .....DO IT ! In my opinion more exciting then Stelvio Pass are roades to Bormio (depends what road option you will choose) . So small , tiny and...........two-way (!!!). I was lucky to pass only one Lancia Y and it was a challenge ! Taking each corner there is a real dangerous fun Well , spending all day there was a superb experience. Totally spontaneous I imagined that it would be a great fun to see Zugspitze glacier during summer (almost 3000 m). I pulled a trigger and went to Garmish Partenkirchen for a night. Next day I drove 10km to Zugspitze's cable car station to get to the top ! WOW , first time in my live I saw glacier in summer ! Everything is ........so dry (only a bit of snow). I was visiting Zugspitze many times but during winter when you can find a lot of snow and hundreds of skiers up there....but what I saw was just ..........rocks and few mountain climbers ! Definitely the best views from all my trip ! Besides , when whole Europe was baking in a heat I was walking on a small snow fields ! So as you can see guys I had an AWESOME week , full of beautiful , interesting , automotive and historical places ! I did 4260 km totally and spent all my cash ! But the questions is...........where to go next summer ? Best Tad Enjoy the pics.
