In my search for a 599 I happened into the local Farrari dealer and he had a 6 speed in red/tan on the floor. I haven't come across one before and was wondering what the prevalence of 6 speeds to F-1? Dealer wanted 200K over-offered 150 and all he did is was shrug hisshoulders and then told me he needed more than that.(MSRP was 296K).

I think it is a real shame that the stick manuals are becoming seldom with new Ferraris.

The F1 gearbox will continue to get better and better -- one might be disappointed with their 100ms 2007 Ferrari in a few years when it is less than 50ms (the Scuderia is already 60 ms). The 6-speed will always be a 6-speed and will end up costing less in the long run. That's why I bought my 612 with a 6 speed gearbox.

I have not seen a picture or the real deal on the 6 speed in the 599. The old slipping the clutch thing didn't work in the 360 6 speed. You had to be fully in gear before you increased the rpm's. I'll bet the 599 is the same deal. Driving the older F cars you could kind of launch the car but not the new ones.

Nobody knows this already? The four inch 599 clutches have been burning out from all the horsepower. Now, the only way you can get a 599 in the U.S. is with F1. Law suit and warranty-happy Americans get 599's without: 6 speed, launch control, roll bar

6-speed 599s are extremely rare. Only a handful are being brought to the US.

150k over plus 30-35K profit on MSRP is not enough profit for thr dealer?= OINK OINK

And that is why no mass production car is a keeper. Buy new cars, enjoy them and get in the queue early for the next new car. They only get better and better. The only keepers are in the eye of the beholder!!!

For me I could not imagine buying a 599 without F1 Superfast. I would only buy a 612 with HGTC.

The Ferrari manual transmission has never been a strong point IMVHO. That doesn't stop us from loving them but if we are objective there are lots of examples better on tractors. F40 is exhibit 1. Porsche certainly makes some fantastic sticks

Can you elaborate on your information- have Ferrari NA or Ferrari SpA said this officially? I have not seen it. Btw- my opinion is it would be a shame as some people like to drive a stick shift car.

    best regards,
    Jerry

From what I hear, there are very, very few 6 spd 599s, probably under 1% of production.

You can still order one if the dealer has allocation.

I was told I when I placed my order I could not get a 6 speed - it was categoric and seemed official at the time. I asked just to see, but I have to say the F1-Superfast is awesome. Even the auto-mode is very good.

please morgie, let me know when you upgrade... I'd LOVE a 3-pedal 612... maybe my wife will have kicked off by then and the life insurance can be put to good use.

Can anyone actually confirm whether or not you can order a 6-speed in the 599 still? I've heard so many rumours back and forth...
