they replaced it with the same cream color today.....was a very easy job.... the tranny is # 102...so i took pics and it is now a fact that the car still has it's orig. engine and transmission....

the interior was detailed thouroughly and shows very well now for an original car....
hopefully by the end of the week, i will be done with it and will post many pics of the car...

seats are very nice, after treating the leather an cleaning with some good cleaner, they look incredible...i can see there had been some dye at some point ,but a superb job...the leather is supple, very little wear..no rips or separation ..maybe just one spot on the bottom of the driver seat where i see a tiny repair..but well covered up......dash was cleaned and i used as receommended by a friend in italy some kind of leather moisturiser and the brown color came back and shows much nicer now...that was the only part i wasnt very happy about but after treating it as he directed me to, the result is great .... that is "lupi" in italy...great guy....he is really close to my best friend in switzerland...

had all suspension joints, bushings etc.. all replaced... 4 pieces were not in stock so i left the originals .. these are the tie rod ends, and the lower shock bushings in the front .... rear shocks are new ...i got them this way and it is pretty clear they were very recenty replaced or rebuilt..... (damn these suspension parts are expensive ) gt car parts supplied all.
new valve cover gaskets, all carbs cleaned up and kits installed....caps,rotors,wires,all fluids.... i can see the calipers etc... are all fresh ....someone just gone through them...maybe along with the shocks...
we got a new a/c compressor as the other one was leaking.will be installed wednesday and hopfully the system will fire up ! some hoses were redone as well...
we are sorting out the car and will end up hopefully with a great driver ,both mechanically and esthetically. i am going at it with no budget or cutting corners ..it is a pleasure and a real match for us as we have so little time b4 the car needs to go to intercity line in mass by next monday ! so i get fed ex almost every day with odds and ends i order from reoriginals,gt car parts ..etc...the side emblems, etc... i will at some point make a long list of everything i ordered and installed...will document all properly...

i can see the motor has been out for sure at some point as well... the engine is bone dry, not a speck of dirt or oil leak or sludge....lots of new gaskets ....it is was maintained throughout the years ....the xwx tires are very nice.the wheels were also refinished at some point... the body and paint is very nice and had been refinished, well done ....i dont know how long ago ..but still looks great...

it is incredible how car can change and look superb just by spending a few days on detailing with a tooth brush ! my staff who are taking care of the car enjot it ! i see it getting nicer by the hour ! lots of pics by mid week ....

that was a super crappy material.i told the upholstery guy : vahan,(he is libanese) one of your brothers in the middle east where mr. khassoggi brought the car to replace the headliner must have run out of headliner material, so he used his t-shirt ! it was so cheap and crappy ,i figured they installed whatever they had in their drawer...but i understand that this was lambo, not a butcher !

    damn this was shocking !

thanks so much... we have the same name...steve m , i am steve maman !

what i am really looking for is the coolant reservoir.... it has the overflow tube that runs along the top of the tank that comes out of the cap opening ... this hose basically goes out to the undercarriage and gets dumped under the car... but i see there are 2 more small hoses on the top...one in front and one in the back... then there is a lower in front... that joinsthe bigger lines...

maybe you have a picture that shows the tank and the hoses...?

i also replaced all hoses...painted all coolant alum. lines...all stripped,painted...all new clamps from gt cars parts ...al new fuel lines...new rubber engine mounts...

once you start, you see the car come to life looking so nice and perfect that you dont stop and keep on going and tackle other items...! i started with suspension bushings etc.,...i will post at some point next wek a full report of all the work we put in and all new parts .... it is long and impressive....all caps, rotors, points, seals for the distributors, timing just done...wires,plugs,carbs rebuilt,....serious engine bay detail job...

whoever buys the car will benefit from lots of wisely spent $$...car stayed un-restored,all original ,..but maintained and sorted out ...highly detailed...i am starting to be happy with what i see...the car is coming alive by the hour...we are in the process of re-assembling all...so she is starting to look great... the nicest part was the rads re-done and fans, motors rebuilt...fan blades cleaned back to new....the units were re-installed today using new nuts, washers etc....gave the engine bay a superb look...air cleaner boxes all blasted and painted..new stickers...just lots of detailing and makes a world of difference.my boys are great at that and love to tackle these type of reconditioning jobs....

The small lines connect to the air bleeds on the radiators.

The one in the rear, directly to the left radiator.

The one in the front connects to a tube that passes around above the back window and then connects to the right radiator.

    Steve,
The little hose(#28) on top of the expansion tank goes to the little connection on top of the LH radiator. The larger hose (#39)on the bottom of the expansion tank actually feeds the system and connects down near the LH lower radiator hose to the metal coolant line that has sort of a T fitting for it. If needed PM me you phone number and I can walk you through while looking at my car.

The parts manuals are online @ Eurospares.

Lamborghini doesn't show many assembly details, especially of trim items.

    What's your problem?

thanks guys, got the cooling system all back in and looks nice..all new hoses etc... looked for those notes and couldnt find them...

i am left with only one problem:

in my notes, i had the caps/ wires /what cylinder each plug went to...we too apart the caps to test the wires and ended up buying new caps, rotors and cavis wires...

    also replaces the distributor seal....

now, i need to re-do the timing on the car ??? need assistance for that and the main problem i have is what wire woes where on the cap and from the car to the cylinders ....
it is my 1st countach apart this way and they are pretty hard to work on...

    Hello,

Hope all is well and all are looking foreward to a good time out in California.

I'm going to bring my black/black downdraft and if I get it finished my periscope.

The car is having the interior retrimmed and I need help.

    What is the proper headliner?

What trim around the viewing window should be used?

If anyone has some good photos of the proper way to handle the headliner and rear view window I would be greatly appreciative.

    Many thanks,

    Arthur

    Pretty popular question this month.

I picked a match to the dashboard and "A" pillar trim.

    Looks great.

my car remained untouched to 100% ..the surround trim of the interior for the back glass is the same material as the dash ....alcantara brown ....

proper headliner ? joe said the factory used crap....i would use anything else but that .... in my car, the headliner is a crema color...i just used a high quality headliner

  24. I don't know if this helps , but the firing order is(on a 5000s with one distributor, not two) 1-7-5-11-3-9-6-12-2-8-4-10. I am guessing one side does the odd #'s, and the other does the other bank of cylinders that is the even. So to guess, the left distributor is 1 7 5 11 3 9, and the right hand distributor is 6 12 2 8 4 10. I am sure 2NA know the correct answer!

    You were almost right.

On a 2 distributor car each distributor serves one bank.

The firing order skips back and forth between distributors.

    Distributor "A" does 1-5-3-6-2-4

    Distributor "B" does 7-11-9-12-8-10

#7 fires exactly 60 degrees of crankshaft rotation after #1

Each distributor has 2 sets of points, each set controls 3 cylinders.

Plenty of chances for your timing to be off.
