This may sound a bit off to some but I would love to see some 1 on 1 team competitions. This would be a one day thing during the week(say Thursday) before the race weekend. All out racing for 12 laps. IE Massa(Ferrari) vs Alonso(Mercedes). 6 laps X 2 with a 15 minute break inbetween. 1st lap with one of the drivers starting at pole (to be determined by a flip of the coin) and the next session of 6 laps with the other driver starting at pole. The winner would be determined by total time gaps from both sessions. A pit stop would have to be made after the 3rd lap by both cars for tires (or your own choice) and equal amounts of fuel for both cars. I believe that this would make huge inroads for F1 popularity in North America as well as the rest of the world. Of course prize money would not have to be too high as we all know these guys would be racing for honor. Sponsors would also get greater recognition. The driver and team matchups could be determined by some kind of fan polling.

    Here you go guys:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16Pvcf_6yJU

    And here's the translation:

Alonso: Me has golpeado el coche con el deflector, lo has hecho a propósito. (You hit my car with your deflector...you did it on purpose.)

Massa: Ganas y me dices eso Serás gilipollas, vete a cagar. Siempre ganas de cualquier manera. (You win the race and you tell me that? You're a jerk-off...go take a shiet. You always win anyway.)

Alonso: Esto no se puede hacer. Chocar de esta forma es algo que no se puede hacer. (You cannot do this. Hitting like this is something you cannot do.).

Massa: A ver si aprendes. (Let's see if you learn.)

Alonso: Sois vosotros los que tenéis que aprender. Pilotar contra todos y chocar a sólo tres vueltas del final. Bravo. (It's you guys that need to learn. To pilot against everyone and then hit my car with only three laps to go. Bravo.)

Massa: ¿También te hice lo mismo a propósito en Barcelona? A tomar por culo. (Did I do the same thing to you on purpose in Barcelona? Go take it up the arse.)

its about time somebody put alonso in his place
i think bring alonso to his knees was better than his 4 poles and 2wins! forza felipe
i will tell u this.....alonso will think twice about playing politics with felipe again
dont you think it would have been wise for micheal or ferrari to have done that years ago???????
and can anyone think of decent reason why the press lets alonso get away with it?

alonso and ron....marriage made in heaven

Ok go ahead, kill me guys. Racing is racing. Things happen. Both of them were keyed up after an intense race. Alonso didn't need to push Massa's button, but damn, Massa shouldn't have gotten so pissed off. Passion is great, but it doesn't involve hissy fits. It's one thing if this sort of thing happens once in a while, but it seems that Massa's behavior is always set to loose control.... This team is really wierd. One guy is icew, the other fire.

And dang, how did the rookie figure out the starting tires while everybody else missed their chance?

Alonso's place being at the top step of the podium.

How exactly did Massa "bring alonso to his knees"? By calling him a jerk-off and tellimg him to go take a ****? Massa is just upset that he blew the race and all he could come back with was a few harsh words.

I don't know about the "politics" part of this, but he'll probably pass Massa just like he did yesterday without a second thought.

Michael was too busy parking his car at Rascasse last year but it didn't work out too well for him. Besides, he could only dip into the 'crash your opponent out' well so many times. Even with the FIA helping him along, old Spoonface still couldn't beat Fernando.

Is it just me or do you hate SF?
Every single comment you've made in threads reguarding this race, you've bashed SF in some way (whether it be schumi, massa, whoever), and worshipped Alonso?
So Massa isn't the best driver in the rain....and since Alonso passed him that automatically makes him the greatest driver of all time. ever. right? What about earlier in the race when FM pulled out an 11 second gap over FA.

    "GoFerrari28" --- you've gotta be kidding, right?

No, I do not hate SF by any means. I am just not blindly loyal to them and I am very disappointed with many of the decisions that they make, including with the drivers that they hire. I think Massa is a very inconsistent driver who does not nearly deserve the praise that some people shower upon him; I think Kimi has exceptional talent but has character shortcomings that prevent him from taking advantage of his skills and he should not need some sort of straightening out by the team or the press to get his act together, and, as I have said repeatedly, I think Michael Schumacher, even with his genius talent, is a dirty, unethical driver and was completely unwilling to tolerate competition from his teammates to the point that many of his wins were gifted to him. I was very upset that Ferrari would hire him, but I still rooted for Eddie Irvine and Rubens because i thought they were decent guys and good drivers. Just because I don't cream my pants upon hearing MS' name like others on this board does not mean that I don't love the team. There is a lot of crap that goes on within Ferrari and I am sad to see it; I'm just not as blindly loyal to the team as several others here. If you want a history lesson look up the name Imperial83. He's no longer around but it's entertaining reading nonetheless.

I don't worship Alonso. He is my favorite driver because I think he drives clean and has earned his 2 championships fair and square. He beat Kimi and most everyone's beloved Michael without crashing them out or cheating, and he brings a lot to any team he is with. When he makes a mistake i recognize it, but at least i know he is truly pushing for the win. Also, please note that for other races where Ferrari drivers have driven a good, clean race, I acknowledge it.

I never said Alonso was the greatest driver of all time. I just think he is a fabulous driver, and Felipe should be embarrassed about that loss because he did build up an 11 second lead AND HE BLEW IT! On top of that Massa got all ass hurt over the fact that he drove into the side of Alonso's car and Alonso still got by him. A great driver is a great driver in any weather, not just the kind that suits him best.

Talking smack about racing is one thing, talking smack about my handle is another you punk. First, go fill out your profile more completely and then go look at my history on the Racing threads. I have been rooting for Ferrari since before you were an itch in your daddy's pants, and I most certainly would not have dropped some serious hard earned coin on my Ferrari if I did not love the cars either. Most of my favorite drivers have driven for Ferrari; Mario, Gilles, Alboretto, Nigel Mansell, Berger, etc...... I have rooted for Ferrari during some pretty dark days and that love for the team will survive my disgust for Michael Schumacher. So go rack up a few more than 66 posts and when you get a clue, maybe then you can take off the dunce cap.

Well, unlike you, I've paid to have a membership here and since I enjoy all things Ferrari, I'll stick around. The way some folks around here are talking FerrariChat and AlonsoChat might come together in a year or two........

I agree with you in the big scheme of Fchat schemes, but in this case
    it's simply huffing and puffing.

Massa drove into Alonso's car because Alonso went there.
Massa would have gone there irrespective whether Alonso was there or not.
Unfortunately, perhaps, he is not as carnivorous as MS.

and he didn't blow his top - Alonso did. Massa's response abs. rocked.
Prima!! as did Alonso's for that matter. Simply genuine.

    >he did build up an 11 second lead

    well then. huff puff.

Your 'any weather' comment contradicts itself --
were it not for the rain in the final laps, Massa would have won,
    and Alonso would have lost.

Hope it's Massa and Alonso to the end.
