Did Speed piss off his bosses with his statements to the media? :)

Nice move Vettel is a better driver than S.S. and with out a US GP for the next year they no need a US driver anymore.

I honestly feel sorry for Scott and Tony. Look at Ralf Schumacher for instance, he's being paid like US$25,000,000 a year but has been performing like crap for a while, and now even more so. Ralf, unlike Speed and Tony though, has vocal support from his team. Although I like the idea of Bourdais and Vettel replacing them, I don't like seeing them leaving F1 on these terms. I would like to see them being given more credit for their effort an the admittance that they were both signed late and missed out on winter testing, especially Scott, and the car has been crap.

Now that's been said, where are they going? I imagine that Tony will get a test driver role somewhere. Scott on the other hand, I see him going back to GP2 or A1GP in an attempt to return to F1 in the future. I can't see Scott conceding that F1 just didn't work out, and him pursuing a drive in Champ cars or Indy.

Sounds like it, huh? Vettel is good - as I recall he actually is BMW but loaned out to STR. Hope Timo takes the test position - could be a good move for him.

I think it's more likely he learned he was on the way out and reacted accordingly.

+1. The rumor mill probably got back to him, sounded legitimate and caused him to erupt.

I don't dislike Speed. It seemed like whenever he started to drive well in a race, the car would break down. True, he wasn't articulate and sounded like Demi Moore's husband in "Dude, where's my car?" (can't think of his name) but he seemed like a decent driver. I almost think he'd be as effective as Fisi if he drove the Renault.

Scott Speed got into it with his boss, Franz Tost. Tost apparently attacked Scott.... My guess is that Scott called it like it was, and Tost got pissssed...

to be frank, i feel both Tonio and Speed has been treated a bit harshly here. i think they both tried, and gave a good fight. that Toro Rosso has been a crap car to drive, full of reliability issues. i judt don't understand why are the team pointing fingers at the drivers for.

Because that's the easy way. It can't be the car. Well, we know that Vettel is quite a good driver so let's see what he can do with the STR. I just hope it doesn't ruine his career.

    Eh, I'm not really bothered.

I am waiting and hoping for Marco Andretti to get over there... maybe by the time we get another USGP.

Part of me really wants to see Scott Speed do well but another part thinks that he really isn't that good. Until recently Tonio has been the better qualifyer and racer. I do remember seeing a quote from SS at one point where he said "yeah, I focus more on the race than qualifying". Nice thought but qualifying is a huge part of F1 and doing well in the race.

I think the best option for him next year would be to try to get a test driver seat with a decent team. He just better be careful that his remarks don't ruin him in the paddock.

I think he's already cooked his own goose. If I were a team principal, I certainly wouldn't want someone like that on my "team".

    Carol

Maybe time is getting closer for Marco to leave the INDY racing league - being taken out by your own teammate, ending upside down in two races . . .such a waste of good talent and his car lends to have issues.

I thought he was under contract w/ Red Bull, and on loan contract to BMW for testing. To get him back, I think STR had to buy their own contract back from BMW? Maybe I'm just confused, this is twisting my head thinking about it.

Anyways, I'd like to see Vettel as a premanent stay in F1, but I think Speed has really done a great job when the car's held together. For 2 years, he's managed to keep a posative face to the media, trying to promote the sport, even though he's been stuck in a sh*t car and has had 0 support from his team. I'd love to see him with someone else. I wonder what he'd be like with someone more competative, maybe he could bring Honda or Toyota into some type of competition.

Ummm, no. They may have Ferrari customer engines, but the constructor is Red Bull

If I had the funds I could put one in a pushcart, doesn't make the pushcart a Ferrari.

    MHO, of course.

More importantly, if the vunderkid teen point scorer fails to score/finish, doesn't that exonerate Noah ;) ?

To quote Enzo Ferrari: "The engine is the Ferrari. The car is just something to put the engine into."

    ...or somewhere along those lines.

PS: While you're of course right technically, Gerhard Berger would take offense with your comment and swear on the Bible that Red Bull is not the constructor. :) But we had that discussion just yesterday.

Will be very interesting to see how Vettel will do. Because quite frankly I'm not sure how much wunderkind there really is. I think he lost a bit of his glamour in turn 1 of the USGP. Also given his lack of experience he will not be the one developing the car forward. But then again, he can't do worse than Noah.

The one that I remember is: "Aerodynamics/Handling is for constructors/teams that does not know how to build engines". or something to that affect.

Not surprised. Both have done very mediocre jobs in admitedly poor cars. Thats racing for you, you have got to grab your chance when its presented and both these guys have had plenty of time to impress..they didnt, now its someone elses turn. They should have no complaints. I am looking forward to seeing how Bourdais and Vettel will do in a poor car should be very interesting.
