    Yesterday i started getting random spam texts on my phone. I got 1 during the day, 1 while i was sleeping and just got another. Most recommending stocks. Does anyone know if theres a "Do not text" list or anything? I can't think of where they got my number since i rarely give it. The only thing i've recenty put my cell # on is the Grand Central google thing.


    I know this is nothing new and i should be lucky i haven't got them yet but its soo annyoying

    I get them every once in a while, have no idea how my number got in their database though...i never give it out. Most of mine are for different types of medication.

    I started getting them one time simply from calling a number. It was a number to hear future music releases, once I called they started sending text messages. I replied with an option to Stop and never received them anymore. It seems yours aren't so friendly though.

    A while back, Verizon gave it's customers a number to call that would remove your numbers from a list of advertisements that would be sent to you over text. I'm not sure who your carrier is, but try contatcing them, maybe you have something similar.

    I got my first one actually yesterday. It was from a 501 number. Weird, dont want this crap to start happening with my cell as my email.

    I have TMobile, so not to sure if they have something regarding blocking spam.

    Weird, I got my first one every this morning...

    It really made me MAD because I use my cell phone as an alarm clock so I always have it right next to my bed. I usually get up at 7am, but today at 6:00am I was woken up by a text message shilling some stock.

    It HAS to be illegal to do that. Of course it's from some bogus number. You can text t-mobile phones with [email protected] so all some spammer needs to do is sent it to that email address.

    I just hope some congressmen get the same sort of harassment so something gets done about it!

    Looks like we're all getting the same ones. Mine came not from a number but from an AOL IM. I actually replied. The text was "Buy xxx stock, its going up..blah blah" and i replied "oh yea?" but immediatley got "User not avaliable"

    Mike, i got one this morning but i keep my phone on silent so i was alright. Sorry to hear about that. I gave up on keeping the phone on at night when i'd get drunk dialed at like 2am....thats college for you

    Cingular/ATT allows you to block text messaging.

    Block text messaging? I text all the time. I'm talking about spam ones. Can i block just them? I actually deleted the texts so i have no idea what # they came from
