I was comming back from Lime Rock Yesterday and I cop got me at 95mhp w a radar. I had my radar detector K40 but I was to late. I just move to NY and I do not know the laws here. Should I plea guilty? Can my liscense by suspended? What is the deal here? I was only following 3 cars . As usual , the red car get the ticket. The other 2 cars went away.

that sucks man. I would say get a good lawyer. I got my license suspended for 103 in a 65. You are not that far away. My ticket was in NJ. It totally depends on the judge and how he feels that day or who your lawyer knows. Ain't justice great?

If you still have your MA license, the ticket may not be reported to MA. However they may suspend your right to drive in NY and do nothing to the MA license. Not good, you need good legal advice...

If your ticket was in NY State...plead not guilty...hire a good lawyer and they can make it go away...espcially if this is your first offence in NY State....IF you got tagged in NY City(5 Boroughs) you are in a word SCREWED...NYC has a strict no negotiation policy on speeding.
As an aside...if you go to NYS DMV and apply for a NYS license they will ask if have been licensed in another state...don;t lie...they WILL check...technically you must surrender your MASS license after establishing 6 months of residency in NY..so if you get lucky maybe your court date comes up before then...get clipped on your MASS license and then apply for a NYS one....Good Luck...if you need a lawyer who specializes in this PM me...I got tagged in Suffern NY doing 86 in a 55...he got it down to an equipment violation and failure to obey traffic sign...LOL..paid a $155 fine and $750 to him...and it was well worth it just from an insurance point of view not to mention the points.

No. What you need to do is:
    Learn to drive
    Learn to spell
Learn to read the speed limit signs
    Learn to stay right
    Plead STUPID!!!!

Calculate your increased insurance costs for 5 years, and your loss of income if you can't drive, plus the cost of the ticket, etc.

If he charges less than that (he will) you got off easy.

I'd guess he's gonna be $300/hr. Ask him, can't hurt. But, negotiating with the guy who has a proven track record of making this kind of problem go away strikes me as counterproductive.

I have used him in the past and he's great.

Not sure what's up yer butt, but cut the guy some slack - he's new here and for all we know, he may not even be a US native, but that doesn't make him a bad guy. And if you want to get on his case about speeding, you're posting on the wrong website ;)

Ever driven that 575 over the speed limit?

Just checkin' 'cause there sure is a lot of hostility in your post for no apparent reason.

Are you a law and order nut, or just bored and looking for someone to pick on?

    Hey! I was the +1!

I paid about 900 I believe, I forget, it was about a year ago, I think you're in the same boat because anything 30-35+ is license suspension, plus the insurance skyrockets plus that new NY safety tax thing I believe, so put into perspective, that flat rate wasn't that bad, but I can't be for sure that's exactly how much I paid

Wow. Tough talk for someone from Pennsylvania.

As a Dino driver, it might be a bit of a foreign concept, but driving the speed limit is not really a practical reality. At least not within the boundaries of civilization. With modern cars.

If you're still skeptical, check this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=iskEUMRVuow It's a bit long, but pretty cool.

The Zinger is a tough guy, we all are from PA, comes from dodging Amish buggies and their horse ****.

I HAVE THE DINO, Zingara has a 575, please do not lump us together, we are diametrically opposed. And my Dino rarely sees the speed limit. Even a 35 year old Ferrari can do better than that!!

I'm not skeptical at all, I know drving the speed limit is a daunting task. Now imagine trying to keep your temper, and your whits, following behind an Amish buggy at 7 mph. :D

I guess speeding is all relative. The state cops up here usually give away 9 MPH on the major roads unless you are weaving . So 64 in a 55 and 74 in a 65 and if you are in a pack on the Tway then 75-80 is overlooked. So just don't be the 1st or the last car. Stay in the middle of the pack and in the right hand lane. If you are the lone car then you become a target so that's when you need to watch the clock. Also left lane guys in red cars are ripe for picking so either find a pack or look for a rabbit if you want to clean your valves. So at 95 in a 55 death is the danger and not the ticket. Hopefully you won't kill someone's wife or kids. It ain't worth it. Enjoy the ride

Somebody always lectures about how speed kills. I'd say $300 an hour shouldn't be a problem for some of you guys here, if you are driving Ferraris. Hire a good lawyer and you should be able to drop it to 5 over.
