I hope I am not asking a stupid question here as have searched all area's for info, but just wanted to know about compression test results for my car.I have had her for 18 months and all is great, I was told the report was good just never asked the specific question about how the compression results rated to other 328's etc. On my PPI report compression results were.

    Remeber that:
you can have 175PSI compression, and, unknowingly have pitted exhaust valve seat(s)-only 1 will do the trick for this discussion(!)(stellite coatings on 328s, GTOs, 348 TR, etc!), and the result is... say...28% leakdown and appx 1200-1400ppm on a static(no loaded dyno rollers...) HC ppm scan....
In California, it is a valve job to get a pass on your smog check!
A compression test is useless on "multivalve" Ferraris...in general...when evaluating combustion chamber gas sealing integrity, think in terms of what the dipole(o2 sensor) is "seeing"
    Think stochiometric!

I have an 86 328... with 30K miles... and my numbers are almost exactly like your... which is very good! no worries there. as for the Stoichiometric crap... dont worry...you're fine!

Is it really possible to have 28% leakdown and have 175 psi compression?

Even if it were, I would not sweat the results posted. 308QV's and 328's are just such solid cars, they really have no reputation for top end issues (or bottom end for that matter).

Many thanks guys, I do feel better with your words of wisdom. She really does drive sweet in every way and I could not be more happy with performance, drive ability etc (ok the air cond sucks badly after lots of $$$ spent, I may resort to puting a Jap unit in her, I know, shock horror!!!)
So if thats the only thing, all is good. Thanks again.Tone

Yes, drive an enjoy. What 335s posted may entirely be possible in the "universe" of possibilities, and may have happened on occaision, but I imagine it is very rare. Up to you if you want to dig into it that far...(I wouldn't bother).
