Andrew, those pictures are amazing, what an incredible car. Does your father still have it?
Thanks Tony ! Yes he still has it . I will never let him sell . He was considering switching to the F40 GTE at Sheehan though..
Encourage him to keep it. He doesnt need the race car - unless of course he has his own racetrack Joe www.joesackey.com

Not a USA F40, but I will make an exception and share this one which many have seen already. Joe www.joesackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
My first F40. 86640. Lovingly cared for by Philip P today. I missed her so much I had to have another... Joe www.joesackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
That EVO article left a lot to be desired. They basically trashed the F40 ..and praised the Audi RS6 for being as fast as the Ferrari because of the rain..
Dear Comrade amenasce, Could it not be that in publishing such an article the editors well realised the wonderful publicity that it would bring? With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
Gentleman, Here is the beautiful Euro production F40 belonging to Mr 512 Tea Are, that was driven to Silverstone on the weekend of 8-10 June 2007. Paul Image Unavailable, Please Login
not sure what article you read, but it wasnt the Evo one. ive just read it again twice - the original and the reprint from the Italian Supercars special, the articles are identical and i can find just one sole mention of the RS6 in all 20+ pages and thats simply in passing as they mention they boxed the Fcars in the car park with it and an Aston DB7. they didnt trash the F40 either, they just said it didnt quite live up to its hype, itd still be in their ultimate gaarge but not as high up the list as expected. Oh and it wasnt totally wet for the 2 days either, a damp start (always is here) then it dried out with just a little bit of drizzle on the afternoon, rained quite a lot on day 2. I would suggest you read the article again as you seem to have given it a great misservice.
Dear Comrade Chaos, Jolly well done indeed. We only deal with the facts in the UK and must do all that we can to preserve the integrity of our colonies thus that they may continue to aspire to UK standards. Certainly, the F-40 looks satisfactory and thank you for posting the image. Do you perchance have one of the front (without moustache) which will show those in our colonies how the motor car looked prior to the molestation perpetrated by the US legislative procedure. With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
In order to pay respect to our Euro freinds may I suggest that hereinafter we refer to their cars as "Lightweight F40s" and this should satisfy their desire to prove that their cars are better. In dealing with the facts, the Euro cars are indeed 'purer', but one must admit, the USA F40s are rather much more rare. Joe www.joesackey.com
I venture to say that the U.S. spec F40's "moustache" would be a worth while addition to the Euro spec cars. Not only for looks, but for the added downforce and enhanced directional air flow it provides to the radiators. My .02, Joe
Agreed. As has already been proven by pics on this thread, several Euro "Lightweight" cars have added this handsome feature to their F40s in order to benefit from the attributes you describe. Joe www.joesackey.com
They mentionned the RS6 bit in a later issue. And well the way they described the F40 was a first to me. I had never read anyone say that it didnt live up to the expactations. I havent read it for a good year but i remember that it left an impression that they wanted to shock.
I dont recall the Euro models being called better, lighter yes, but better always comes down to personal opinion. I always refer to the great Gordon Murray when it comes to sports/super car design and to derive the greatest possible driving experience is to create a light car with substantial power, (the lighter the better so not to add too many computer gizmos just to make the whole package driveable). (McLaren F1 no driver aids/Ferrari F40 no driver aids/Big fat Audi TT Veyron thing loaded with aids) I believe all 512Tea Are is stating that the increase in weight (as a result of my previous post discussing the homologation of the F40 in to the US) may dilute this theory and be slightly away from the original F40 design. Its well known that Gordon Murray himself loaned (amongst others) an F40 from Nick Mason when designing the F1 in his quest to find a pure drivers car. We all now know that, the F40, as a result of the laws and homologation rules surrounding cars entering the US, gained a little extra in weight and a little extra length. I certainly hope we can come to the same conclusion that the F40 is a great piece of engineering and machinery that has stood the test of time in the supercar arena whether it be a "moustached" US model or a "pure" Euro model. You gentleman, are in the posession of one of the greatest automobile creations our generation is likely to see. Enjoy them as Enzo intended
