what do you guys think ? i have always hated that huge rear spoiler....it really spoils the car...in a bad way. however, the performance will be mind numbing.... can't wait Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
For a car with ~550 BHP, those are the ugliest exhaust tips I've ever seen. The GT2 is a fabulous car nonetheless.
I've driven the 997 Turbo and simply can't imagine what 550HP in that car would be like. Such a beast. Frank
The only thing that I think would look better is the GT3 rear bumper with centered exhaust. Other than that it looks great, plus the performance will be incredible.
For a car that cost that much . . . they should have made it a bit more unique (appearence wise) if u get what i mean. LOL I still think that the new 997 wont last long. I think there will be some sort of change in the near future.
there will be a slight face lift for the 997 range end of 2008. this however, will not affect TT, GT3, GT3RS and GT2. concerning the looks...i guess, that it's exactly that what we like about our porsches. that they somehow are still true to their identity and original look philosophy. a rear engine is certainly not the best solution. if not even the worst. however, porsche decided to leave it that way for the 911's iconic image and worked around it. then again, i personally think that once you get the hang of driving them, they are more predictable than mid- engined cars. mid-engines have an incredibly high threshold. but they dont bark, they bite. with a 911 you feel the cars ass twingle and twitch. on another personal note, and i believe any one who has driven a 911 will +1 that they have a special feelig in the steering and the way the front moves. i am not saying its better or worse i am just implying that it is a unique feel only the 911 provides due to its layout......
New GT2 seat looks pretty cool. There's lots of flash-media stuff on porsche.com. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Have you guys seen the Carbon Fiber wing on the GT3 RS? From the pictures, I thought I'd hate it, but when I saw it up-close, I really liked it. As a result, I think I'll wait until I see one of these bad-boys before deciding. As soon as they're available, it'll just be a short matter of weeks before someone brings one to our Saturday AM Santana Row gatherings. Frank
I hear many people here saying 550 HP,its 530 HP. I love this car, definitely the best looking 997,and the performance should be amazing but not as good as the F430 scuderia. The official pics are amazing i hope that someday Ferraris official photos are gonna be outdoor and as nice as porsches. I mean imagine if the official photos of F430 scuderia were outdoor it would have shown the car a looot better.
based on the power to weight ratio, ferraris launch control, etc. but this is just an estimate we will just have to wait till one of the magazines tests these cars.
i'm thinking Auto motor Und Sport will be the first one to test it those germans are allways in a hurry lol but this is gonna be a good "hurry"
It's hard to believe the price of this one. Nearly 200K. I think the problem with the 997 and all the variants, they all look like a 911 (there are millions of them) with various wings and slight body tweaks. The parts bin side air intakes are something Ferrari would never do. I am sure this is an incredible car, but for 200K, I would want something that had a little more exclusivity. There are so many more choices at that price. I sure hope they don't make more than 50 of them, because I doubt they will hold any decent value for long. I personally think that a 997 is probably in the top 2 or 3 sports cars in existence, but I can think of better ways to spend that crazy amount of money on a car. Ferrari would be one way. Better value for the buck. Just my opinion.
We'll see in time, but i think you are exagerating quite a bit. I suspect it may be a bit faster but not much.
As i said on another forum, the GT2 deserves to be more unique than this. The front is 997 T , the wheels are GT3's.. I miss the 993 GT
I cannot stand the fish gills on the bottom and sides of the rear valance.......the wing is OK.......but the car is not visually distinctive enough IMHO. Performance wise I believe it will eat an Enzo for breakfast. The previous GT2 was "almost" untouchable by any other stock (unmodifed) car. As Porsche is getting 3.2 second 0-60 times right now, imagine what Car and Driver or R+T will get. The magazines are always .5 of a second faster than the manufacturer. I can't wait.......probably 8 months to go.
