    Dear all,

I just bought a 400i in Thailand (Bangkok) at auction by the custom dpt. My number is 53275. This is my first ferrari and I m quite happy with my buy.

The car didn t run for 3 years and was parked in parking, we putted new gasoline, check the differents level and started it already, the car run smoothly no strange noise, the car still lifted. Now we will process to change all the filters, fluids and liquid. The car is 45.000 Miles RHD, the rpm gauge doesn t work.

Any suggestions to change, replace, renew whatever?

1st I just have the key to open the door, no key for start, no key for glove box, where can I source one?
    2. No inspection lamp in the glove box where can I source one?
    3. No spare wheel and crank where can I source one?
    4. No radio dash where can I source one?

I am living in a tropical and humid country highly congested in traffic, what kind of sparklugs will be good NGKBP6ES?

    Any nice comment is welcome.

    Xavier

I think you have your hands full both with the car and with the distance to obtain parts and I suspect your friendly customs people will tend to like some of the parts they might find!

It took me four tries to get a spare ignition key. I finally got the correct one from Dennis McCann in Westerville, Ohio; 614-855-1103. It cost $45 this year. His item number is 0095401012. All 400i's may not have the same key; I sent him a picture of mine and he matched it to the picture. My car is an '84.

The spark plugs you mention are commonly used in this car and probably suit your local driving. If you go on a long high speed run I would suggest a colder plug (NGK 7 or 8). If you look at the thread I started a week or so ago, you will see a lot of discussion abut plugs.

There are several sources of used parts. Price can vary substantially. Fred Petroske in upstate NY is parting out two 400's and he may have what you need. Here is his email address: [[email protected]]. I leave it to other posters to give you some other sources for non-mechanical items like the ones you seek.

Good luck with the car and the parts hunt.

There's a great source for keys: I forgot the name of the company but mail to [email protected] and they will mail you an entire set of about 10 key blanks from the 1970-80's for around $ 25. The three blanks you need will be among them. Provided you have the originals. They advertise on ebay frequently.
www.eurospares.co.uk is for me the best overall source for parts and, even with the low dollar, most of the time a lot cheaper than most american competitors.
    Good luck.

The key problem is a little problem. Go to a good Bangkok locksmith and have him order keycode NE8, made by Ilco in Canada. They are fully available, though you will have to wait. But who knows, you might get lucky and he'll have the blanks in stock. But, anyway, that's the keycode. I went through this a year ago. If he has that blank code in his order book, and he should, you're fine.
Now I see you don't have an ignition key. The door and the ignition key are supposed to be the same, are they not? Mine, however, does not unlock my door. It only starts the car.

I don't know about 400's but for my 365 GT4 2+2 I have two seperate keys for doors and ignition, one for the glove box and another one to lock the levers for trunk and fuel filler cap...

My doors have never locked, even though I have 2 other keys besides the ignition. One locks the fuel door/trunk levers on the floor.

Was never able to lock my car on the whole trip, even when I spent nights in hotels along the Interstate. Figured it would be safe-who would the thieves sell the parts to, you guys? :)

We use to get our F-parts from Singapore or Hong Kong. Do you know who Man Manit is? he is working at the Porsche Dealership in Viphradi Rangsit near the Don Muong Airport. He might know a few places to source parts.

How come customs didn't allow the car in originally? or the owner abandoned it? I had a lot of problems importing and Exporting to Thailand in the past.
