I just put # 360 on my wife's POS 10yr old SLK. The plate is worth about 4 times as much as the car I have yet to see any of my plates advertised. It's only a matter of time b4 some genius tries to flog my F50 on ebay using some of the photos posted on here though. It seems to happen to Mike Sheehan using photos from his website fairly frequently.
funny... it's hard to say whether it's "rampant" or whether guys like us just notice it more. last week i alerted Q to someone who was listing ads of the cars he's got for sale, but in the end the guy was a mate/fan of his. fwiw it doesn't happen nearly as much now as it did 2-3 years ago, either that or they're doing it better. :\
Tender for plate VIC # 18 BIDS START AT $800,000 If that sells for that money I wonder if the buyer would be interested in a $5 million F50
I spoke to my neighbour yesterday. He has the first 2 SA Grand Prix plates ever issued, namely [1] and [2] with the original Australian GP logo on them. Fitted to an M3 Convertible and a new Holden GTS. We agreed they are worth more than $100K as a pair - probably a lot more in my view. He was offered [3] as well a while back but declined it - he now wishes he got that one too. They are great looking plates - white on black with GP logo in colour. Unfortunately, he doesn't want to sell them but it did give me a chance to tell him I'd take them if he'd ever want to sell them. Both original owners of these plates died in accidents - the [1] plate was owned by former AGP Chairman Ian Cocks who was killed when he crashed his 911 in the Classic Adelaide and [2] by Kym Aunger who dumped his chopper into the surf at the Twelve Apostles.

"TAXSUX" on a 355 H/D in Chapelopoulos street today. FWIW, I had 2 opinions from experienced heritage plate players on "18" this weekend. Consensus was that it just might make $800k which I find astounding. Price on a sub # "5" knocked back recently was $1.4 million
I think its a 355TS, but check my pics... saw it on Lygon after the Grand Prix this year: http://aussieexotics.com/drivers/displayimage-3809.html http://aussieexotics.com/drivers/displayimage-3810.html http://aussieexotics.com/drivers/displayimage-3811.html Does anyone know who owns the E55AMG with number plate [1]? What's it worth these days? I've also seen an MB SL500 with [Nero] and an SL55 AMG with [SLAMG].
FLT-12 got noticed in Sydney this morning, and not in a good way ..... hope he doesn't get into trouble but some people are not happy
please elaborate. Papers here are full of a "drag race" crash on Grt Western Hwy last night, a couple had the misfortune to turn right across the path of two bogan commodores. <sigh> More fuel for the speeding fine revenue industry, more justification for speed cameras. The real issue is that Australia is one of the few developed countries where a young person can afford to own a high powered car, because insurance (beyond 3rd party injury) is not compulsory. You just don't see young people in fast cars in Europe and they have fewer deaths as a result.
