ahh yes, you could rattle off cars/colours/plates by heart by now taxsux is a GTS, he rocked up to a commodore car club dyno day that i stumbled across with a mate in the rowville backblocks one day years ago, parked it for a couple hrs, then proceeded to fishtail down the street bouncing off the limiter as he departed class
work colleague saw said car on Saturday overtaking over double yellow lines going up a hill and had to force his way in when a car came over the hill...... that's his story and his doctor wife said "all those idiots [Ferrari drivers!!] do that !! " doctors, huh, who believes them ?? I have never gone over the speed limit
Speaking of WRXs, I saw [NOTWRX] on a Impreza RS last week. Idiot! Why would you advertise or emphasize your deficiencies? That'd be like a female driver having the numberplate [FEMALE]. ;-)
hehe ive seen that..not THAT bad a plate IMO, good for a giggle. the RS is a nice car for the age/insurance challenged. RS-X has all the WRX visual bits and a decent torquey 2.5
That could have been part of the FCA weekend run down to the South Coast. It always amazes me that a minority of members turn into idiots when they're part of a convoy. I've regularly seen overtaking on double lines, undertaking using the breakdown lane on the freeway and other types of stupidity. Just because there's a queue of traffic in front of them. When we eventually get to some real driving, fast flowing un-trafficked country roads, these heroes can't keep up with Ken B's 40 year old 330GT! (at the speed limit of course... )
Yes, more than once as I've tipped into a sweeper behind Ken at about 6K in 3rd, I've said to my wife, "he's got a live axle and little brakes, so we can do it easily" whilst hoping she doesn't notice my white knuckles! After about 10k's if this, I conceded defeat and let him pull away. Bugger can really drive.
Yes and north of $2 million; but it's impossible to buy something off someone who a) Doesn't need the $ and b) isn't interested in selling.
sorry Ian. PC was off line for a couple of weeks and for the most part i couldn't be bothered. for a while there was too much agro and not enough car talk, but hopefully all have kissed and made up. now, finished rebuilding that truck yet?
OSEEYA on a dunger VT commo with imitation HSV kit, dropped to the bumpstops on cheap bob jane looking 19" rims flew by as I chatted with a few of fchat's finest in toorak =TOOL
Unbelievable! I know a few better ways to spend that sort of money. He should at least upgrade his Benz or put the plate on a supercar (which he probably has in his garage already).
nothing wrong with an E55....the vast majority of the population can only ever dream of such a car plus...i find the idea of a car with a plate worth FAR more than it rather cool
Considering the appreciation in value in the last 4 years, I don't know that you could actually find a better place to invest the money. That plate when released by the government at auction in the 1980's made about $250k. It was sold to current owner for quite a bit less apparently. Number 4 was sold by Dutton's about 6yrs ago for a bit over $100k. It is now not far behind # 1 in value. Still reckon you could do better by investing the money elsewhere?
not likely, but I'm still spitting chips at the $24k 'just restored' 246 I passed on in '84 that turned into a $250k car 2 years later
Saw on Today Tonite, tonite.........what looked like a late model Holden Barina with QLD-EZ LIFE plates on it.
