    Well Barry...I learned something today.

Do you or anyone know why?...or is the date plate a requirement for US cars only?

I'm not sure why, Greg. I know that Euros imported and federalized here have a plate affixed on the door jamb by the firm doing the conversion, eg. Amerispec. Perhaps someone can post a picture of such a plate.

Well, there's the answer. The plate states that "the vehicle conforms to all applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards in effect on the date of manufacture shown above." I guess it should more properly be called a "Conformation Plate."

    Barry...you've been a huge help!

My car was federalized by Prancing Horse Farm in Maryland. I may call them and ask why one was never affixed to the car and if they would be willing to make one. Probably a long shot, but never hurts to try.

FNA gave me a "born on" letter. They told me mine was born on 30 Jan 1984 and left for the USA on 24 Feb 1984.

30 Jan is a big day around here now

    Greg,

The two of us go back a long way as members on this board. We're still learning!

Let us know how you make out with Prancing Horse Farm. If you have the paperwork, I'm sure they'll oblige.

Barry...thanks for all of your help.

I tried using the last web-address I had and it came up null.

I'll try switchboard.com and see what I find.

I'm not sure how you go about doing this. Fortunately, my car has the federalization paperwork with it...just not the decal.
