Whats the best way to keep the 2 black rubber boots from coming loose on the rear bumper...is there a special type of glue or do I need to replace them...1 is ok and the other seems to have seperated from against the car.
Thanks in advance for you help.

    Hey there,

I have the same problem on my roadster. One boot is fine but the other one is coming off. I find they warp and degrade over time with all that exhaust heat. They are not glued in but the rubber has a lip that allows it to slip in and hold.

Lambostuff.com sells them for about 75 each. The tough part is....how to get it on? ...bumper removal...yuc !

If you can get the boots back in place, a small amount of "super glue" should hold them.

Guess I'm not following this.... the boots have embedded metal strips that lock the boots into place???

    Hey y'all,

No, the boot is made completely of "thin" rubber with a rubber lip on top and below. The bottom lip is "letting-go" ...rubber getting weak and disintergrating. If you pull on the boots, you will see the lip. I wouldn't recommend supper glue as that is painted body work there. Eventually they will get bad enough or you will finally go for that sport exhaust and the " while I'm in there " will set-in. :)

Be carefull pulling on the boots, the accoridian seams are prone to tearing.

Then maybe we have different boots.

In addition to the lip, the corners have little rubber triangle extensions which "cover" the metal strips embedded within the rubber. Its the corners that keep the boot in place. If the rubber peels away from the metal strips you run the risk of them scratching the paint work.

Bumper removal is easy, takes about 30 minutes max. Once you take it off, you may not want to put it back on. And, problem solved, no need for the rubber boots.

Leave well enough alone and live with the boots, not worth trying for perfection on that.
