I have Some canvas covers, and I think they are tonnoeu's For a Mondial. Did they make these?
Here is a picture. Can you help me figure it out. PLease. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, I had one of these and sent it off to a souther CA top maker...HE's taking his sweet time...but haven't paid him anything either. This is NOT a tonneau cover. IT is a standard Mondial cabriolet cover used for shipping from the factory and is discarded upon delivery. It truly has no worth, as you have found out. The side, elastic pices go in the handle areas, and the rear, I believe went under the rear engine cover. The front items under and about the front, trunk lift area where you lifted the trunk and dropped it on the inserted strips. This item, which looks like you might have acquired it with the car or on ebay should be sent back to seller if purchased or, well, just kept as an oddity. There IS a link I can send you for a true leather or canvas toneau cover, and there is a FOC member that sells them, but it didn't fit well., thus my NEW pattern sent to SoCAL.
Hmm Very Interesting info. I have 2 of them, and I am assuming they came in a couple of cars we had sold, and it was taken out and never put back in. i guess if anyone has any interest in them, let me know.
they are kinda of cool. they have leather elastic cords, which is a LOT of expense etc. Ferrari went to a lot of expense to guard their tops in shipment for that day's technology....afterall, the Mondial T was listed about $100,000 when it first came out about 18 years ago!!!!!! you would expect champagne for that too. anyway, what you have is becoming much more rare. The local Ferrari dealership mentions they have 'bunches' of them, and I expect them to just be discarded someday...... KEEP them, they will become the 'full concorse package' someday... BTW: Mondial T's luggage is the most expensive produced by Ferrari for ANY car to date: over $7,000 Euros!!!!! and that is for 7 items which is the most too. Also, that doesn't include shipment, tax etc.
are you talking about a cover for the interior while the top is down. I would have an interest in this as I would park the car with the top down and want some security
The pictures are of a quasi-tonneau cover used to protect the interior of the Mondial Cabriolet from inclement weather (sun, etc.) by the owner (not just for shipping). They are rather cumbersome to put on but serve the purpose rather well once installed. Going rate is $300 and up (I paid $350 for mine from an eBay private seller). Also, I believe they came in a pouch (which unfortunately I did not get).
NO, a toneua[sic] is NOT what he has, but a SHIPPING cover to keep the TOP UP clean... if he were to put the top up, then put this cover on, it would cover the major portion of the windshield, the top and some of the rear window area..... the side straps gave it some play, the leather, cheap for them, was a means to get LESS friction on side portions. ACTUALLY, wouldn't mind getting one again....sort of gives me the full set. I have designed and being made in SoCal a true toneau cover for the Mondial Cabriolets, old 208,328 or 348 models...all basically the same. IT has aftermarket, real snaps to be used on the rear boot area, so there are NO straps..that maker has them in crome or black plastic...Believe I am going to use black on mine for cost and get some replacement ones should some bite the dust later in my life :| I also have redesigned the front piece to go UNDER the front lid, such, that when the lid is closed it covers the entire windshield area. I have side straps that go with velcro in the door handles and around the side mirrors [velcro too]...I have, but not decided, to install a velcro piece for the drivers areas, such that when I park, I can quickly undo the driver's side from the windshield and cockpit area for re-park/position the car out of, say, the sun. This way I wouldn't have to undo the entire toneau just the driver's area. MY goal was not a driveable cover with the top down. but, when I drive a distance, and used to put the cover over the car [my top doesn't go up ], I wanted to keep leaves, dust, sun off the leather....BUT, when I covered the leather and the DIF'cult rear leather boot area, it made it dirty....mostly due to engine 'dust' after a long drive.... SO: wanted something that covered all the leather to the rear stranged shaped top cover, and left the engine slats open for cooling. I could have this made in leather but that defeated the purpose, so, choose a washable canvas, and asked for insight into a reflective type material....still being developed...good thing is, this will fit the entire cockpit, AND rear top cover AND windshield..... will keep you updated.
not quite a true tonneau cover in that you CANNOT drive with the one shown. The cover shown is covers the side windows and front and rear portions of the windows: cannot drive when the upper portions of the front and rear windows are covered....just put one on and try it...doesn't work.
So do you guys have any interest for them? i dont need them. I would like to sell them. maybe $75 a piece?
And I use it regularly when I park my car with the roof down. Its helpful in keeping the interior clean, reduces sun exposure and is easy to use. I also have been asked if I have it when being judged. I would get one if you dont have one! - Ron Ps. I still have Roof Toggles available.........
i also have a Mondial Car Cover, it is on ebay right now, if you guys are interested in it. Thanks For the Info on the Top, and the Help to get rid of them.
curious if they used the same cover or if teh one for the mondial T was wider in some way... I would love a real tonneau cover but curious how you would attach infront do I have to insert snaps along the front dorrs and dash like british roadsters?
SonomaRik is correct in stating it is not a true tonneau cover. That is why is I labeled it as a "quasi"-tonneau cover. It has the same general shape, but is only useful for protecting the interior leather and such from damaging sun, keeping debris out, etc. when the car is parked with the top down. Didn't mean to confuse and imply that you could drive with it. And to avoid follow-up emails from the purists, yes it doesn't have the exact tonneau shape, since it does cover about the top half of the windshield, makes opening the doors impossible by hooking onto the outside mirrors, etc. In any event, $75 is a bargain. Whoever needs one, grab it.
Hi guys! Hello from Argentina! do you know who could have a Mondial QV Cabriolet 1984 tonneau? King regards!
Our own Hank Sound (Hank Garfield) used to make a rip stop nylon "spider cover" for our cars and other Ferrari cabriolets, Ricambi distributed them, sadly Hank is gone now and Daniel at Ricambi has none left for Mondials, maybe a few for 348's. I have one. Alden View attachment 2086230
@Alden correct. I have 1 x 348 "Spider Top" remaining. It might fit a 355, but it certainly won't work on a Mondial.
Still have my custom tan leather like cover. Found during moving three months ago. I believe my design superior ALL open areas covered. Zippered driver bay. Windshield & mirrors covered & engine bay OPEN. No one puts a cover over a hot engine. Mine let's it breath. Should throw it on ebay. Had it on sale here for $500 but few wants such: little interest.
