Hamilton is a smart guy. I think he knows very well that Ferrari would welcome him with open arms to the tune of about $50 million a year for 5 years. The only thing I thought would hold Ferrari back from getting him would be Hamilton's loyalty to Ron Dennis, the whole "like a 2nd father to me kind of stuff." Well, I don't know many father like figures who would screw their son over that bad. To show the complete lack of class Ron Dennis has, he then in the press has the audacity to blame it on Hamilton! Seriously Lewis, come talk to Ferrari and let your talent flourish. Plus, we could use the help. Nugget

Like Ferrari has never done a raw deal to a driver. ;)

RD might have frogmarched that one guy, but he hasn't hit his drivers .... yet. :p

I really wish Speed would have beat the crap out of that coward who hit him, while his back was turned. I wish he would have handed him his ass, and quit with dignity and his pride intact.

id love to see LH come to ferrari.
i dont think its gonna happen just yet tho, McLaren has supported the guys career from a very young age and there is surely an ironclad contract holding LH to McLaren for a fair while - unless he can find a way out of it then hes there for a while.

If LH and his father felt that the team wasn't really serving them then maybe they could rethink the relationship. This RD guy seems to be a real turd so I'm sure that they'll tire of it. All the kid can do is just focus on winning for now and the rest will play itself out. There's got to be some way out of the contract if it came to that. It could happen one day and I'll bet F are quietly scheming it.

Wonder if LH has the Alonshole escape clause for embarrassing and/or illegal behavior. ;)

I'm taking pleasure in hearing about LH telling Dennis to "go f$%$-ing snivel". This is better than anything George Lucas ever wrote...

Considering Lewis is paid a fraction of Alonso, he shold be cut a little slack!

Huge point. I recall reading about some "kid" being groomed, a kart driver at the time, to drive F1, years ago in an article in autoweek I believe. Saved the mag, alas, lost in the sloppy archive. I wonder what sort of contract must be in place for someone that had a team commit to them for so long at such an early age. From my recollection, it was the 1st time this has been done. Is that correct?

money has nothing to do with how you behave as a human being ... some of the nicest people I know have lots of dough while some of the rudest have none

I think Vettel, Rosberg, or Webber may be a better choice, all of the excess salary that goes to paying Hamilton's salary will go to car development instead, which is William's strategy when it comes to hiring drivers.

Hamilton is on $300k from all reports, a decent set of tyres for the year would cost more

Wow, such drama. If true, as I said a while back, money talks. I think the kid would be a good fit. I'm sure Dad likes the idea of 35 big ones. :)

Where would Kimi go? I am sure Ferrari will keep Massa. He is a good driver, knows the team and does not cost a lot. So who will pick up Kimi? Back to McLaren? BMW?

How funny would it be if both FA and LH left McLaren at the end of the year... FA to BMW or back to Renault and LH to Ferrari with Kimi.
