Kimi drove a great race. He had a brief window at the start of the soft tyre stint when he had already gone through his performance lull and Hamilton was suffering his. It was then or never for Kimi. Happy that Kimi is ahead of Massa
From the comments here I assume sleeping through the race and Speed not replaying it today are not bad things...... Maybe this is a wacky race weekend better left forgotten.
the track doesnt help, but its more than that. the cars only work when they have clean air. this means overtaking only happens when theres a massive difference in performance.
The cars lose downforce once you get to .5 secs behind, so unless the driver in front makes a mistake or the car behind has significantly more speed, there's virtually nothing you can do but go off of the track if you continue to trail (we saw Kimi do that a couple of times)
what was wrong with Phil's performance today? the team was the one that screwed up his race big time, and not him. if he or Kimi would have gotten pole, surely it'll be a Scuderia win.
If you would look at their lap times you can see that Massa really is not in a position to overtake Sato.
this is HUngary, the Monaco w/out the armco and buildings. Phil's chances were pretty much over after quali yesterday.
F1 needs to reduce the size of the rear wing and allow for the floor to flex and then we will see more passing.
i think they just need to go back to basics. lucky they're banning TC next year. more chances of overtaking.

Ralf did a pretty decent job today. also, Fisi's performance are really going down. reports say Piguet Jr. has already been signed to replace him for 2008.
I believe that it allows less air under the car and creates more suction to the road. I also believe that it would not effect the dynamics of the car behind much if at all.
Alonso managed to make some good passes - he passed Webber "the widest car on the grid" without breaking a sweat. Passing is possible here, its about guts, motivation and confidence, which Massa lacks sometimes. Given the pace of Kimi, it's insane that Massa couldn't pass the frickin Super Aguri. He's improved tremendously, but he still sucks in the wet and still can't make a pass to save his life.
i guessed itd be something like that. not sure whether its a good or a bad thing - i mean it doesnt appear to be applicable to road car usage so im not sure id want to allow it (personally) im all for massively reducing the aero on F1 cars in an attempt to make the racing closer reducing the wings would def be a step in the right direction and yeah maybe allow the floors (for now) if as you say they arent affected by other cars
I think the FIA needs to adopt single element wings, flat bottoms and slick tires, in conjunction with smaller displacement engines based on production blocks with turbos.
i like the flat bottoms, single element wings idea. but im not sure i wanna see turbos come back, and why production blocks ? personally id rather they say any configuration of cylinders, up 3500cc, normally aspirated, up to 6 valves per cylinder, valve actuation unlimited, 12000rpm rev limit
