Very cool. Your hardwork is appreciated :)
So did he just order one of every possible configuration? sultan - "I'll take a bentley Arnage" Bentley agent - "Well your hiness, we can make that in sedan, coupe, convertible, T top, wagon, and even hatchback" sultan - "Yes, that sounds good. 10 of each. I'll be having them matched to my socks. My 35 butlers will bring you my socks so you can match the paint to the socks. I also want anything that would normally be in chrome to be plated with 24k gold so that the world knows which sultan with absolutely no taste and an unlimited fortune has these bentley's rotting away in his garage never to be seen by the public's eye. While you're at it I've also come up with this design for a bug eyed Arnage. It will be the ugliest Bentley ever made but will still intrigue people because I'm the Sultan of f***ing Brunei! 10 of those as well and I'll be matching those to my to my favorite 10 wifes eyes." What a d***. All the money in the world can't buy taste or class. This is proof.
awesome find basman....where on earth do you get those pics....the bentley pics seems to be inside bentley's crewe factory....or maybe a 'sultan special room' ?.....i hope i can too help you on discovering and getting pics of the sultans car
Chilidog/Eric Hayto You should not have posted the list of the cars. You might have taken it out of the kerridge system. You signed a confidentiality agreement when you were hired in brunei and that is still in force.

I've taken the discriptions from Tim Cottingham's astonmartins.com and editted it here and there. 1991 Aston Martin Virage Lightweight GT This car built to special order with a special engine has very distinctive front lights that transforms the look of the standard Virage. Notice the bonnet bulge, 6.3 conversion wheels, the extra vents in the bonnet and ahead of the rear wheels and a revised front air dam. Aston Martin Vantage Special Series I This is the modern and big version of the DB4 GT Zagato. At least 2 were made, a red and a black one. Aston Martin Vantage Special Series II Well this supercharged Vantage based 2 seater is a bit more difficult to describe. It's a bit of a non-descript coupe not like anything really. One car of these may be loacted in the UK. I think one of these is featured as the cover photo on Dowsey's book. 1997 Aston Martin AM3 The AM3 is quite unusual for an Aston as it was bodied by Pininfarina in Italy, a company much more associated with Ferrari. The very odd and distinguishing feature of the AM3 is a sort of black plastic looking nose cone which encompasses the lights and grille. From pictures I've seen, it looks like a smoked black plastic. The rear lights are behind a full width smoked black panel. At least two were made, one in red and one in black, none of the AM3's were in garage 5 at the time the list was copied. 1997 Aston Martin AM4 AM4 is the second Pininfarina car, which is best described as a large DB7 on the Vantage chassis - much more conventional than AM3 at the front. The rear lights are again behind a full width black (or perhaps smoked plastic) full width panel similar to that on AM3. At least three were built, of wich one is red and one is black: AST AM4 BQ7999 SCFDAM2S8TBR70502 AST AM4 BQ6000 SCFDAM258TBR70504 AST AM4 BS9989 SCFDAM2S8SBR70126 A black Aston Martin AM4 has been spotted at teh Works Service in 2001 by Tim Cottingham. Lagonda Zagato Rapide I don't have any information about this one. If you look at the VIN's there are two Lagonda's that stand out, SCFDL01S1ETR13351 & SCFDL01S5ETR13370. Maybe that those are Zagato's. I don't have enough knowledge of Aston Martin VIN's to read them, maybe someone else can? Here are all the Lagonda VIN's from the 'big list': AST LAGONDA BN1299 SCFCAMZ56RBR50406 AST LAGONDA BN1288 SCFCAMZ56RBR50404 AST LAGONDA BN1999 SCFCAMZ56RBR50409 AST LAGONDA BN1298 SCFCAMZ56RBR50405 AST LAGONDA BN2088 SCFCAMZ56RBR50408 AST LAGONDA BM9991 SCFCAMZ56RBR50401 AST LAGONDA BN1899 SCFCAMZ56RBR50407 AST LAGONDA BM9990 SCFCAMZ56RBR50402 AST LAGONDA BN1289 SCFCAMZ56RBR50403 AST LAGONDA BQ7522 SCFCAM2S5TBR50427 AST LAGONDA BQ7555 SCFCAM2S7TBR50428 AST LAGONDA BQ9399 SCFCAM2S1MBR50279 AST LAGONDA KF9398 SCFDL01S5ETR13370 AST LAGONDA NONE SCFDL01S1ETR13351 1993/1994 Lagonda (Virage) 4 door Saloon & Estate This is another of the Virage based conversions from Works Service unveiled in early 1994. It came about as the result of a million pound order for four cars for a special customer. The production side of AML produced four long wheelbase Virage chassis which then crossed to the other side of Tickford Street to AML Works Service, who fitted the saloon bodies. The car featured in the press release was finished in Hunter Green with right hand drive; this is the most recent car from AML to have the Lagonda badge. There are also LWB versions of this model made. These cars were extended by 100mm or more. Aston Martin Vantage Special Series Type I This is a supercharged Vantage stretched to become a four door car. The styling is exactly the same as the two door and is characterised by having side glass within the body of the car behind the rear door at the 'C' pillar. This could very well be the succesor of the 4 door (Lagonda) Virage. At least 2 were made, a black one and a red one complete with chromed six spoke alloy wheels. Aston Martin Vantage Special Series Type II Certainly based on the type I, the type II is still a four door Vantage, but looks much more complete, indeed a very convincing saloon. The doors seem to be longer and thus it'll be easier to get into than the type I. The 'C' pillar doesn't have any glass in it at all and overall the car is more rounded. The Type II keeps the six headlights and Jaffa grapefruit rear lights of the standard Vantage. I believe three were built, a black one, a red one and a grey one. 1993 Lagonda Vignale The Lagonda Vignale was commissioned by AML (already fully owned by Ford) from Ghia Design (also part of the Ford family) to be shown at the 1993 Geneva Salon. The exterior design was by Moray Callum - an interesting co-incidence as the Geneva Salon 1993 was the first appearance of the DB7, the work of Moray's brother, Ian. This somewhat large car was built on a Lincoln chassis with Lincoln independent front and solid self levelling rear suspension and was powered by a 4.6 litre (190bhp, 260 lb/ft) Lincoln Town Car V8. The reality of the concept is that physically, it had no recognisable AML parts at all. But, had this fabulous car made production (and many thought that it would), the chassis would have become an extruded aluminium affair, the suspension was to be fully independent and the engine would have been a 6.0 litre V12. Whilst these features never made it into a production Vignale - they are exactly the same as found in the the V12 Vanquish. Certainly two Vignales were built, a grey one and a blue one. The blue Vignale was sold at the famous auction of Ford prototypes in Dearborn in June 2002 for a massive $403,500 (including buyers premium), many times above the estimate of $60,000 to $120,000. So that means that grey one was sent to Brunei, because there was a Design Project Vignale there, namely AST VIGNALE KF20 DP2138 in 1998? Or maybe not; there are some people who believe that a third Vignale was built for a wealthy client of AML, built at the Newport Pagnell factory, probably within Works Service... Picture of the grey Vignale: http://www.*************/pitlane/pics/589092c.jpg Picture of the grey Vignale: http://www.*************/pitlane/pics/589092d.jpg Pretty interesting stuff he? I'll try to find out more about the 3rd Vignale and will post the info when I get some.. PS The drawings were made by Mike Harbar and are featured in David Dowsey's book "Aston Martin : Power, Beauty and Soul".
Argento Vivo Pininfarina Prototype for sale on Ebay @ http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-Pininfarina-design-1996-Prototype-SL-Mercedes_W0QQitemZ150146848505QQihZ005QQcategoryZ6212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrd Vehicle Description Here a unique opportunity of a life time ! and no reserve . Here a Mercedes SL AMG Prototype designed and built by Pininfarina for the Royal Family of Brunei. Car is in San Diego USA. Last year, they built the famous P4/P5 Ferrari at a cost of 5 millions $ Pininfarina the famous Italian design house have been involved with the design of all shorts of vehicles since its humble beginnings over seventy years ago. Locomotives, boats, aircraft among others, but famously, cars. Today the company has two manufacturing plants and research and development facility with its own wind tunnel. The Company most closely associated with Pininfarina is Ferrari. Since 1952 a total of 163 different types of Ferrari are Pininfarina designs, including the 250 GT Coupe, Dino 246 GT, Daytona, Testarossa, F40, F50, 360 Modena and the fantastic Ferrari P4/P5. The Argento Vivo was initially a formal and technological research prototype built in conjunction with Honda. This car was presented to the International press at the Tokyo motor show in 1995 by Sergio Pininfarina and Nabuhiko Kawamoto, President of Honda. The car won the Golden Market Trophy awarded by the Japanese magazine Car Styling and the Best in Show from the American magazine Auto Week. According to Pininfarina the Argento Vivo represents a refined exercise in style, an image car that projects its personality into the world of automobiles. With innovative solutions, like that developed for the convertible hard top, which can slide back automatically and then be housed in a space behind the two seats leaving the luggage compartment unencumbered. Argento Vivo is an automobile that marries hot Latin passion; a love for sporty aggressive cars, so typical of the Italian tradition, with the rationality of a sophisticated brand Argento Vivo evokes the concept of a sporty and technological elegance. There are few outstanding points of interest, including the return to the two-tone colour scheme, undertaken with a skilful blend of cutting edge fine materials. Aluminium, which with the basic structure constitutes the heart and spine of the new Spider Pininfarina, becomes a fundamental component in the two-tone interplay and in the enlivening of the cars surfaces. The engine and luggage compartments, the roof structure, the air intakes and the exhaust vents are all made of this material, which calls to mind sporty and competition vehicles of extreme class and, at the same time offers a sense of solidity, protection and functional refinement. The rest of the bodywork, on the other hand, is made of resin painted dark blue, a sort of support into which the aluminium parts are inset. The Argento Vivo evolved from the Honda based car into further cars based on brand new Mercedes SL600 chassis. Brakes, suspension and gearbox are all AMG as is the 7.3 litre V12 engine. Developing 655 hp, the performance of the Argento Vivo is devastating, 0-60 in less than 4 seconds and a top speed of over 175 mph. The enterior is custom built by Pininfarina especially for the Argento Vivo and consists of carbon fibre door panels, dashboard, centre console and special leather and carbon fibre seats. Four of these cars were built for the Royal Family of Brunei. The original cost was over $2,500,000 for each car.Two remain in the Royal Garages in Brunei; the other two are now available in San Diego, USA. The intense secrecy surrounding the special automotive projects that the Royal Family commissioned means that the very existence of these cars is unknown to anyone except those closely involved in the projects, indeed no pictures or details of these cars have been made available. With the Royal Family cutting back on their lavish spending, the specialist workshop facility that Pininfarina used for the construction of the special Brunei cars has now been closed, meaning that Argento Vivo will probably be the last Pininfarina Mercedes designed and coach built car. Car is new, never been use. Car is complet except the glass ( they are in England ) and car needs seats. This car will be welcome in all shows in USA. Where do you have a chance to own a prototype built by Pininfarina for the Royal family of Brunei and who cost new 2 500 000 $ . The auction is only for one car. The second car will be shipped to Europe after the auction. ( or if a second buyer make a proposition of trade or a good offer, the second car can be available ) Please understand that a deposit of 10 % will need to be paid with 48 hours, and the balance when the car is delivery. My tel 011 33 613 916 500. Car can be inspected in San Diego any time. Please understand that if you have no interest to buy it, don t bid on it. This auction is going to be the only one like this as even if you are Bill Gate, the BRUNEI Cars Prototypes are not for sale at any price. This car was part of a big deal with Prince Jeffrey ( brother of Sultan ) where was include all diamonds, antiquity, expensives watches etc..
so did either of these go to the Sultans collection? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Cheap trick to try and pass it off as a Ferrari just because of the Pininfarina name. -1 AFAIK it has nothing to do with Ferrari apart from that, right?
That could very well be the case... Two or three Concept Java Coupe's and one Java Convertible were made before the Geneva show. Maybe they were sent/sold to Brunei before the 18 'production' Java's. Bentley needed cash, Jefri needed cars... On the other hand maybe they weren't good enough for the Royals... the 'production' Java was a great improvement on all aspects compared to the Concept. The concepts are not on the VIN list, but the 6 P705's are also not on that list.. Eric, do you remember ever seeing a Java Estate (P705)? And did you ever see one of the Concept Java's in Brunei? or maybe more than 6 convertible's and 6 coupe's?
yeah, but I can understand that he wants that car in the spotlights in the exotics section instead of in between two old e-classes on ebay..
The saga continues i suppose, Heres another couple Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

- Rolls Royce Brunei Specials Update - 7 Pictures of the Rolls Royce Royale: http://www.*************/gallery/129612/976/12.html The Royale is not the Royale The Bertone designed car isn't called Royale, but Majestic or Cloudesque. Jordan from www.bentleyspotting.com pointed out to me that the Rolls Royce Royale was designed and made by Robert Jankel. I've contact with him and he's a real cool guy with a really cool website. He's also intrigued by the Brunei cars and has some interesting thoughts: - Rolls Royce Royale - From pictures of this car it is hard to tell the massive size of the vehicle. It is half a foot higher than the Silver Spur and 46" longer, but still with two adjoining doors. Five Rolls Royce Royale's were ordered by Jefri/the Sultan, four made in 1995 a the final in 1997. The first Rolls Royce Royale made in 1995 seems to be the first car Jankel made of the model, most likely the black car from the Jankel press photography. This assumption is made as one of the 1995 Rolls-Royce Royale cars is made on the ZW chassis designed for the Silver Spur Touring Limousine, which Jankel was making on behalf of Rolls Royce at the time. It is the 1995 Rolls-Royce Royale, VIN number SCAZW04A8SCH80138 with Brunei registration number 1 BD that is most likely the black car above, before it was delivered to Brunei. The next four Rolls-Royce Royale cars were made on the ZH Sultan chassis. 1995 Rolls-Royce Royale SCAZH04CHSCH00011 1995 Rolls-Royce Royale SCAZH04A3SCH00013 1995 Rolls-Royce Royale SCAZH04C3SCH00014 And the 1997 version with a slightly revised engine. 1997 Rolls-Royce Royale SCAZH16C4VCH00465 The car has a 6.75 Litre V8, single Garrett turbocharger, cross-bolted crankshaft, non catalyst engine. From Jankel press photographs comes a white Rolls-Royce Royale, most likely on the special Sultan ZH chassis. http://www.*************/Pics?viewPic=y&source=gal&uID=129612&gID=976&pgID=12&pID=641420&first=true - Rolls Royce Majestic - The car is either called a Rolls Royce Majestic or a Rolls-Royce Cloudesque. My money is on the Rolls Royce Majestic, as it looks less like a Silver Cloud than the other different coachbuilt car below. Two Rolls Royce Majestic cars were built, both in 1995 one one carries the Brunei registration number plate BQ 7032 the other none. Here are the Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) for each car. 1995 Rolls-Royce Majestic SCAZH04A6SCH00023 1995 Rolls-Royce Majestic SCAZH04A8SCH00024 The cars were built on the special ZH chassis like many of the other Sultan coachbuilt cars, and both had 6.75 Litre V8, single Garrett turbocharger, cross-bolted crankshaft, non catalyst engines, with active seat belts, were built in Crewe and were right hand drive. Both cars were built at the same time and have sequential VIN numbers. It is not known if the car bodies were built in Italy or England. http://www.*************/Pics?viewPic=y&source=gal&uID=129612&gID=976&pgID=12&pID=640098&first=true - Rolls Royce Cloudesque - This is again a 1995 Rolls Royce, either a Rolls Royce Cloudesque or a Rolls Royce Majestic. I am guessing Rolls Royce Cloudesque as it looks older than the Bertone, is more retro and has Silver Cloud IIIesque head lights. Three Rolls Royce Cloudesque cars were made, two in 1995 and another in 1997. The cars featured 6.75 Litre V8, naturally aspirated, non-catalyst exhaust system engines, were built in Crewe, right hand drive with twin air bags. What is interesting is that two cars are in Brunei and one is in the UK. The registration number plate of the UK car is N282 AMP so keep your eyes open and camera phones ready British folk! The other two cars are in Brunei with number plates BQ 6363 and KF 7899. Here are the VIN for the cars. 1995 Rolls-Royce Cloudesque SCAZH008SSCH0006 1995 Rolls-Royce Cloudesque SCAZH00C6SCH00062 1997 Rolls-Royce Cloudesque SCAZH13C4VCH00468 These cars were built at different times and not together like the Majestic. http://www.*************/Pics?viewPic=y&source=gal&uID=129612&gID=976&pgID=12&pID=641413&first=true Some thoughts on the Cloudesque or Majestic names. The 50/50 chance for the names is a harder one than it looks. From the information we know one has airbags, and the other does not. Can we tell from these photos, probably not. One has a turbo charger and the other not. Can we tell from the outside, no. But which car is larger and needs more power? One was by designed by Bertone the other is unknown. Two cars were made at the same time for one, three at different times for the other. This is interesting. Why was that so? One car is in the UK, the rest in Brunei. Which car would make UK regulations? I have been second guessing my bet between the Cloudesque or the Majestic all along. Also one 1995 Phantom V SCAZH00A9SCH00071 was made, what does that look like? Rolls Royce President limousine The Rolls Royce is a raised rear coach seat Landaulette version of a Rolls Royce President limousine by Robert Jankel based on the Silver Spur, featuring a rear coach seat cloth canopy and extensive gold decorative trimmings, with large gold state coat of arms to the front and sides which when combined is as subtle as a nuclear bomb. Oh, with faux oak bumper bars for good measure as well. The wedding car is most likely one of these cars from 1992 on the ZW chassis made by Jankel for non Park Ward limousine production. SCAZW02A8PCH80019 Silver Spur II touring limousine SCAZW00A0NCH80029 Silver Spur II touring limousine SCAZW00A7NCH80030 Silver Spur II touring limousine SCAZW00A9NCH80031 Silver Spur II touring limousine SCAZW00A0NCH80032 Silver Spur II touring limousine SCAZW00A2NCH80033 Silver Spur II touring limousine SCAZW00A4NCH80034 Silver Spur II touring limousine SCAZW00A6NCH80035 Silver Spur II touring limousine SCAZW00A8NCH80036 Silver Spur II touring limousine SCAZW00AXNCH80037 Silver Spur II touring limousine Link to his Bentley post: http://www.bentleyspotting.com/2007/03/sultan-of-brunei-darussalams-different.html Link to his Rolls Royce post: http://www.bentleyspotting.blogspot.com/2007/08/sultan-of-brunei-darussalams-different.html
Well its been ages since i last logged on here and WOW...some interesting stuff, basman your knowledge is amazing...where do you find the time!! and chilidog you mad skating hero, how the hell are ya? No i didnt work at the bognor place but i remember sitting in the carbon merc batmoblie in Brunei..... it really was a waste of carbon fibre, it seriously did look **** and if batman seen it, he would for sure push it off Gotham Tower as no super hero would look cool in this thing that looked soooooo bad and square with caddy fins flaring off the rear. When one of the other spanners told me where to find it i was sooo dissapointed! i was expecting something that looked like the Michael Keaton Batmoblie.....ohhhhhhhhh it was more like the Adam West Batmobile but worse...and that car was bad! I never got a chance to photo that car.....my camera batteries just couldnt muster the 0.01 volt to charge the flash to photograph something sooooo stupid! ops, if the person who penned that car is reading this then i hope your job at Kettle-Plastic-Mouldings is secure....as your last attempt at designing a car fit for a super hero was as inspiring as the boil i have on my ass! Does anyone have any info on the 308 Koenig special that was/is ? Was the complete nut and bolt restoration a waste of time?
Another car i had the pleasure of seeing in the flesh during its Brunei ownership, and this (unlike the batmobile monster) is a true jaw dropper...totally gorgeous! never got the chance to drive it..apart from parking it which is about as exciting as watching sponge cake rise in glass fronted oven, iam sure there are people who know more about this vehicle than i do, but i do know it was a pininfarina styling excerise, shipped to the uk only too fail SVA type approval on its lighting locations. Menoy, i noticed you did thank me for some of my stories even thou i dont publish pictures, i would love to show some of the rare pics of the cars which i have but i just cant bring myself to it, i know it sounds silly but its my only lasting top trumps card of the hard work i put in during my brunei experience, cant promise anything but maybe one day i will release a pic of something, just too see how quickly world wide it goes, but in the meantime iam sure you will understand, i guess its like dating a super hot chick who then gives you a rude exposed picture of herself, For Your Eyes Only...and maybe a few mates when having a few beers while playing Ghost Recon on the playstation Laters
Can you guys recall a roller by Pininfarina, it was one of two ever made..i think? Cost several Million...i think? and one example went on fire...well the ass of the car did, It was pretty much brand new as i remember one of the roller spanners hacking on how expensive it was! tut yeah a expensive cigar more like, lit at one end and someone sucking at the other end! But do you know what the story behind that beast was??
I've been looking out for a Batmobile for some time now, last week I came across this: http://www.*************/PitLane?viewThread=y&gID=7&fID=134&tID=120354&bottom=0#post14 Is that maybe the car you're talking about?
What did it look like? Hmm, no. I only know of the Cloudesque pictured in the gallery being 1 of 2. Talking about cigars, did you know there was a brand that only and exclusively was sold to the Sultan of Brunei lol But how sad that one of two Royces went up in flames, do you know if it was rebuild?
I'd be willing to pay you if you have any pictures of the 2 Black Mclaren F1 LMs. There is not a single real picture of the cars released to the public. PM me.
- PininFarina, Coggiola and Italtecnica - Allthough the Aston Martin AM3, AM4 and the Bentley B3 were thought up and designed at Pininfarina. The actual build of these cars were done by the company Coggiola. This company is known for their scale models, show- prototypes, concept cars, luxury limousines, light truck cabins, helicopters and light airplanes, mostly ordered by the big firms. An example of one of those builds can be found here, the proces of an Aston Martin AM3: http://www.coggiola.com/inglese/process.htm The same thing goes for the Jaguar XJ220 Pininfarina and the Ferrari 456 Venice Estate. These were sent to Italtecnica to be made. Italtecnica has been involved in motorsport, has collaborated frequently with the most prestigious automotive houses and bodywork designers for the construction of prototype cars, taking care mainly of the mechanical aspect of such cars, and has set up an engine tuning department. Here are the facts of the two Brunei special jobs: PININFARINA input: Jaguar XJ 220 restyling Target: mechanical parts update ITALTECNICA works: * Electronic sequential gearbox installation - Williams F1 * Cooling system study * Electric components, studies, drawings and installation * Power-assisted steering installation * Studies and drawings * Building new parts * Car assembling * Development tests PINIFARINA input: Ferrari 456 Target: car transformation from coupè to station wagon ITALTECNICA works: * Transformation from manual to automatic transmission * Cooling system study * Studies and drawings * Electric components studies, drawings and installation * Building new parts * Car assembling * Development tests

It looks like it's (amongst others) inspired by the Bentley Grandprix (the predesecor of the current Bentley Continental GT) . If you put the VIN's of the Camelot, the Imperial the Spectre and the Phoenix in chronilogical order you see that the first time it gets mentioned on that list is after the Grandprix was built, while the Spectre, Imperial and Phoenix were built before the 1st Grandprix. Only two Camelot's are mentioned on the garage inventory. Two prototype Bentley Continental GT Drophead's sound likely to me, better than 6 Imperial's (wich I first thought it was).
