This is really amazing....GT2 seems to be a fast one...almost on par with Carrera GT Image Unavailable, Please Login
sportauto, german car magazin has tested the 599 fiorano in 7,47 min. on the green hell. See August 07 edition
also take note, that Sport Auto is using a shorter version of the NBR as they do not close the track for their tests. manufacturers have exclusive days where they have the whole track and use the whole length of the track....and yes, they do test competitiors cars for evaluation...and yes, they know how to drive them and extract the best performance. this is from wikipedia: [edit] Track lengths and timing Not all of the following laptimes are comparable. The complete de:Nordschleife is 20.832 km long, full uninterrupted flying laps can only be done in closed sessions and race events like Castrol-Haugg-Cup. During the industry testing sessions in which de:Sport auto records its "Supertest", the track can not be traveled at full speed past "Tribüne 13" (T13, grandstand 13) in order to allow safe access from the old exit/entrance there. Thus, Sportauto Supertests cover only about 20.6 km, which in average yields a 7 s shorter lap time compared to a full lap. There are 5 sections on the 20.600 meters long Supertest-Nordschleife: 1st=3850 m 2nd=4235 m 3rd=4825 m 4th=4846 m 5th=2844 m =20600 m Some lap times are even claimed to have been done during tourist driving sessions. Because it is forbidden to race on tourist days as it is very dangerous to drive fast among the general traffic one should not try to measure the lap time on a tourist day. As the full main straight cannot be driven at speed due to the modern exit/entrance there, these laps are usually timed "bridge to gantry", which is only 19.1 km and thus about 30 seconds shorter.
the gt2 had 7,46 in 2003 by sportauto magazin with the same driver like the 599 did 7,47 ; the carrera gt number was 7,32 that means the fiorano 599 is amazing as a GT Car
to me it means that the most powerful production ferrari is slower than the previous 996 GT2.... and it also means that the 997 GT2 is running the same time as the Carrera GT.....which is absolutely amazing....but not true... in Walther Röhrls hands, the Carrera GT does the lap in 7:28......which still means that Walther Röhrls 7:32 in the GT2 is killer as well.....
Interesting. What's the source of the first scan with the bar charts? Were these cars all run on the same day?
Internal porsche material for staff...here is the rest of the piece.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I guess porsche people would get a hard on for this stuff. To me, It really doesn't mean much. I own one porsche and don't think that much about it! plus all the numbers seem VERY inconsistant.
Again....none of us is a race driver and I don't think many of us can even come close to those figures on NBR in any of those cars. So enjoy your cars gentlemen without trying to figure out who is faster.
I really see how Porsche paid drivers are going to get the best time for a Ferrari.. The 7.47 time for the 599 is amazing considering the car is a GT and not a Track whore , but also considering it was developped on Fiorano and not on the ring as the german cars ( Porsche and Lambos..)
i agree, none of us is a racer....however, whenever a ferrari is published with an amazing lap or performance figure, everyone is drooling over it. enough comments were given about scuderia-enzo times.....when porsche is concerned it seems uncalled for on this board..... we all love performance cars.....and in the end they are about......well, performance, i guess. so a NBR time of 7:32 is absolutely stunning...... tiko, not going out tonight ??? kitesurfing.....in this life ??? diving ??????
I agree, these numbers are not posted to be contentious (at least not for me) but merely to point out some stunning performance numbers from a particular model....in this case a 997 GT2. While the majority of us will ever be track heroes, the track times can serve to illustrate a cars performance.
I admit, 7:32 IS fast and deserves respect, can't deny that.....and Porsche discussions were never uncalled for on this board.....always welcome.....we are very tolerant . Hmmmm tonight.....I will make up my mind in a few hours . Kitesurfing.....somehow it doesn't seem to fit in my plans . Diving.....I hope soon.....got my gear. Let's plan it for Wednesday or Thursday.
this is just one of the typical uncalled for replies one can only find on this board........ personally, i will not even consider getting started as it's just useless......
Well, that's Armen and he only thinks red. That picture will tell you and guess which Porsche he drives . Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is Porsche Material .It means very little IMO. Just as when Ferrari says there latest car is x seconds faster than the Enzo or than the predecessor..Its all marketing Hype and those documents were more than likely willfully leaked from Porsche because they know it will cause discussions on every board and make people want to check the GT2 ..
