Alonso was robbed....even if he did hold Hamilton a few extra seconds, which Alonso and his engineer both deny, it is no concern of the FIA.

    I think the message is:

    1. You don't lie to FIA officials. Both Alonshole and RD lied. They were caught redhanded. This does not bode well for the McCheater team in their spy scandle appeal. Mr. Integrity (self-proclaimed by RD) has been caught out. Couldn't happen to a nice bunch of guys.

    2. You don't mess with the F1 points leader who is a rookie and the darling of most of the media. If the FIA had done nothing, the howls would have been horrendous. Lewis is the Tiger Woods of auto racing. He has done more to get people interested in the sport. He is a phenomenon whether you like him or not. FIA is going to protect its assets. Alonshole is not very popular (outside of Spain). Do the numbers. It's greed, pure and simple.

...and create pressure...he can play very rough if he wants now, the FIA is desperate to have Hamilton winning the DWC...

and I agree Alonso is far from the Icon Schumi was...so longlive the king, but I dont like he´s not playing fair with Alonso either, that shows that he´s gone completely into stardoom wiht his celebrity stat now...

And yes...the fight will help Ferrari...IF WE CAN GET THE TEAM TOGETHER!!!

...I´m still mad witht his BALDISIERI, what he did was INCREDIBLY STUPID...I just checked and ONLY super Auguri let a car go away with no fuel in...once, earlier this year...

I FEEL SO...sad...this was the way to be within sight of McLiaren...and now whe are still 19 points behind!!!

I really think the championship just slipped yesterday...just like last year when Scumi got all carried away while loosing places on wets with a drying floor and clashed Heidfield breaking the A arm WHEN ALONSO WAS ALREADY OUT!!!

...sorry to say all this folks but I think we just SCREWD BIG TIME...

    Hi Brian

RD's policy of "we will not deviate away from equality – it’s the foundation of the company." may become its downfall.
Although personally I think its an admirable policy ,but at such times when there is distrust with the drivers it can only be ferrari's gain.. As long as Kimi & Massa make as many 1-2 wins as possible to have any chance..

..yep, that is SO true, FIA just BANNED the crane move "hamilton style" saying..."no car can be towed/lifted away into or out the racetrack with DRIVER IN despite engine running...

WHAT A LOAD OF...the no crane tow with driver IN is been around like FOREVER and now they said "to avoid such dangerous trackside help"...

they are all out to help the kid...and if Mcliaren get´s in the way, well, THEN MAYBE they´ll get some punishment...

this season is worth writing a book!...starting from Schumi retirement to whatever happens in the end...

Strong point Phil. i know lots of Mclaren die-hard fans here that actually hate Alonso since his Renault days. they were wishing last season he won't bring the No1 to Mac this season.

Correct Steve. Ron already admitted the stress he's feeling and this situation is more difficult than Senna-Prost era. here's the link.

+1 Ever notice how Yahoo posts a LH GP victory on their main page after a GP whereas every other driver's win is never even mentioned? Ridiculous......

ESPN is the same- the sport revolves around Hamilton- the only front page post you will see on ESPN.com is in reference to Hamilton- otherwise they will slot it in the rpm section never to be seen by anyone.

The sport is better with Hamilton than without- after Schumi the sport could have been in real trouble viewership wise - Hami is really the saving grace.

Ever watch a race with someone who knows little to nothing about the sport? Try it- Hamilton is an easy to subplot to grasp- minority in an almost all white elitist sport- its transcendent - and goes down easy without explanation - just like Tiger. I could care less about Golf - but I watch when tiger's playing- so does most of Golf's viewers. The sport may finally have someone that will do the same for the lay person to draw them into F1. Who knows maybe we can get the race on FOX in HD a few yrs earlier because of it.

    Um, he's british.

I don't care if he's orange with mauve polka dots: the kid's got talent. Almost as much as he *thinks* he has.

When I saw him doing his "fast and furious" slides around Monaco, I knew two things: (a) He's got talent, and (b) sooner or later, he was going to stuff it into a barrier. ;)

Regardless of his relationship to the team, he at least knows how to keep it civil in front of the press. He really has been groomed for F1.

Do you have a reference for this? I checked the FIA web site, and I didn't see any updates to the regs on this. Was this a "clarification"? A press "report" (e.g. rumor)?

Sport and business are not synonymous, even in F1.
Hamilton is a tool and a media whore ('saving grace' - ajajaj),
hence all the maFIA's less than clandestine moves to ensure the Paris Hilton of F1 prevails.

Hamster is not the problem per se, but he is the circus' attraction,
to the detriment of better drivers (and teams).

Yep, crass entertainment. 0 meaningfulness. easy 2 swallow.
as predictable as hollywood. Insert addtl coins to play.

Killing the sport in sport to 'save' the sport is delusionary.
Refuse in HD is high quality refuse.

... I have no confirmation of this, but during the FOX telecast, they read a report where the FIA stated that, based on the complaints raised by the Toro Rosso, they "issued a clarification in which they said no car was to be lifted with in-track crane with driver on board regardless of it´s engine running or not, and regardless the dangerous posittion to the on comming traffic...

That was more or less what they said...official or not, Toro Rosso issued a complaint, but I havent seen any offcial documents either...

maybe was it just a verbal clarification after the complaint?...maybe it hasnt been published yet?

... anyway, the NO CAR TOWED WITH DRIVER IN has been there forever, and they just overruled it for the brief seconds hamilton was airborne, and then re-stated as soon as he touched the wet asphalt hoping the kid will gain back the lost ground...

Looking over that thread does raise an interesting question:

Sure, everybody said that it was "hydraulics" that took Kimi out of the German/Euro GP. But given the qualifying pit fiasco for Massa at Hungary, maybe Kimi's car really did just run out of gas in Germany.

but, if he did indeed run outta gas, he stopped just short of his pit box, they could have fuelled him up. is that even allowed anyways?
