Okay, heres my story. Ive lived in the same house for 4 years..never seen or heard anything odd. About a week ago I was laying in bed watching tv and all of a sudden the entire bed jolted and moved as if someone pushed it. I figured we had an earthquake..it is Cali.. But then I noticed nothing else had moved and the curtains werent moving. So it appears to be isolated to my bed. I checked the web and there were no earthquakes. Okay..I figured maybe I had drifted asleep and dreamt it. So then yesterday morning I was woken by the sound of someone running through the hallway outside my bedroom...it sounded like a child. I had been asleep so I figured it was my dog and his running had become a childs running in my dream. I got up to use the bathroom and then I heard the same thing again and it was definately not my dog..it was someone running..and definately a child or someone small. So I went into the hallway and my dog was staring at the closet..which was kind of weird. I checked all the doors and windows..everything was locked. I went back into the bedroom and as I crawled into bed I mumbled something to the girl staying overe about the dog making a lot of noise and she said she heard it as well and it definately wasnt the dog...sounded like kids playing Later that day I went into the guest bathroom that no one ever uses and I found a bunch of magazines scattered all over the floor. They were magazines that I had on my nightstand that I read before bed and I had been wondering what I did with them..but I know I didnt scatter them all over the floor of my guest bathroom. So ghosts dont scare me but I cant figure out why after 4 years theis would just start happening... thoughts ? __________________
Could the sounds of the magazines falling sound like footsteps? If they all fell a certain way, I'm sure they could make the clacking sound of someone running on a floor. As for the bed and how the magazines got there, no clue. Did you look under the bed? Could you have moved the magazines without remembering? There's always a logical explanation...give it a few more days and keep us posted.
You do not say how old the house is. That is important. Tapes, both video and audio, are based on ferric oxide(rust). Old houses retain memory through the pattern of the rusted nails implanted in the building of the house long ago. With the right electrical conditions, these recorded happenings are replayed. There is your ghost. It is a replay.
The house is from 1956 and that is a very interesting theory..Im going to have to research that. The occupant of the house before I purchased it was an elderly woman who passed away..though she did not pass in the house.
The guest bathroom is on the opposite side of the house from where we heard the footsteps...I definately wouldnt hear anything falling from there. I can be forgetful but theres no way I moved the magazines into a guest bathroom that is never used. Theres two other bathrooms more conveniently located. The sounds of someone running were directly outside my bedroom door and it seemed they ran towards the front door..which is where the closet the dog was staring at is located. Thing is the front door is deadbolted and chained from the inside.
It the occurances keep happening I definately might do that..for now its only been a couple instances. Im a bit fascinated by it and sort of hope it keeps happening.
I moved into my new (to me) house in Philly Metro. Going upstairs, a spot on the wall turned brownish-red. Cleaned off, came back. Cleaned off, came back. Cleaned off, came back. Painted over, came back. Painted over, came back. Painted over, came back. Painted over, spot gone. lol You could hear steps from the front door, going up the stairs and down the hall up yo the main bedroom door. Things (electrical) coming on/ going off for no reason. In the office, a cushion that was on a seat was on the floor one morning. It had my briefcase on it, along with a few other things on top of it the night before. Only th cushion was on the floor, nothing else was moved. Liquor gone, with no evidence of seepage/ leaking/ etc.. Sorry, but I don't believe in ghosts. lol And my friend bought a house that was on the market for several years. He got a really really good price on it, well under market value. A rabbi murdered his wife in it.
Call "TAPS" from the Ghosthunters show on Scifi channel. I've seen some freaky S___ on that show that can't be explained. Dave
Ghosts do exist and what was said above is very true. These are replays of an event which happened in the past and only happen depending on the conditions around at the time. Do i believe in ghosts? YES I woke up and saw an old lady sitting down on the chair at the bottom of my bed. The bedroom door was slightly open and a bit of light coming in from the hallway. She was transparent and moving her hands as though she was knitting. I was scared sh1tless, absolutely petrified and couldnt move for around 45 mins to an hour. It was 100% real and clearly visible. Eventually i just closed my eyes and screamed as loud as i could, burst out crying etc etc and my parents burst in to the room soon after. I was in my mid teens and my parents thought i was dreaming. I know for ceratin that i was awake and that time when i was looking at the woman was one of the scariest things i have ever seen. Say what you want, I dont blame you if you dont believe in ghosts but you will never believe in them until you see one yourself. If you do, count yourself lucky. The story above seems credible, especially with the dog staring at the cupboard or whatever. Just bear in mind, these things may never ever happen again though.
Jerry, ARE YOU THERE????? Jerry, ARE YOU THERE?????? I hope they didn't get you! Just kidding, Hey, I'd be scared Sh**less too if that happened to me! Let us know if there is anymore incodences!
How bloody convenient! That's not to say I don't believe or do believe though. I have a friend whose farther I regard as very credible who insists on seeing them. I used to have bets with friends on who could manage to sleep the night or weekend in alleged haunted locations. Never experienced anything out of the ordinary, made a decent amount of money out of it too. I'll happily sleep in any haunted location if the bet is good enough. Currently in negotiations with a friend about staying alone in the forests of Oregon for a couple of weeks. Now this is a different matter!
lol Im still here... no new incidents. When it comes to the paranormal Im a skeptic that is open to evidence. Ive read a bunch on ghosts being latent energy that under certain circumstances replays events. I can sorta buy that theory. What I dont buy is that a ghost is a self aware being that hasnt passed through to the 'other side'. I just cant get my head around the idea of a malevolent being that is trying to harm the living. Anyway.. As I originally said Ive lived here a while and never encountered anything strange until recently.. more than likely nothing will ever happen again and there was probably some very explainable reason for the events. I will post in this thread if it ever happens again. Who ya gonna call !
Sleep paralysis is an interesting phenomenon that I've experienced 7 or 8 times, always with a sense of fear/anxiety, foreboding presence in the room bent on attacking me (and sometimes actually attacking me), and auditory/visual/tactile hallucinations thrown in for good measure. A lot of stories I've heard, especially ones involving a presence sitting at the end of one's bed, fall right in line with the common understanding of the condition. Unfortunately I think a lot of people don't know about it or would rather believe in more fanciful things other than their mind simply playing tricks on them. I've been attacked by giant spiders twice, had a crazy old witch looking woman sitting on my back, strangling me, seen my cat morph into a lion on my lap and try to bite my head off, been infected with cockroaches under my skin, heard someone running down the hall towards my room hellbent on killing me, etc, all of which was the common condition of sleep paralysis. Of course when I jump out of bed at 2am, swinging my shoes around trying to squash a 2' wide spider, it all seems pretty damn real. Not sure about the OP's situation but I think magazines falling off a nightstand could sound like people running around and the bed shaking thing could be a number of things, but the fact that these things happen while you're falling asleep or waking up says a lot I think. Also, my brother used to sleep walk every once in a while and has been known to rearrange our living room and play with the TV in the middle of the night without knowing it, so are you sure you're not cruising around the house in the middle of the night? some info on sleep paralysis: http://watarts.uwaterloo.ca/~acheyne/S_P2.html http://www.skepdic.com/sleepparalysis.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis -R
+1. Watched a show on this and said that people who have experienced Alien abuctions or supernatural encounters, most of them were an episode of sleep paralysis. Has happened to me before and its horrifying.
So did you look what was in the closet? Also find out what happen in that house on that exact date in the past.
