http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3213_2645179,00.html Now things are really getting interesting. I guess he will take his bat and ball and go home.
So Mclaren will not support Alonso this year knowing he will leave . I hope Ferrari doesnt can Massa for him ..
it just keeps getting stranger and stranger....I wonder if it's because they know they won't be racing in '08 after the FIA appeal and don't want to pay his salary.....
Seems to me Alonso or Hamilton will not play 2nd fiddle to each other and the team has realized equality isnt working. I would imagine Alonso will think hard before deciding what team to join... Some drivers are more equal than other drivers.
Mark, Who'da thunk at the start of all of this, it would come own to the MELTDOWN, of the McLaren-Mercedes F1 Team??? It's even getting so hot that Ron Dennis, is taking some time off, during August, to rest and collect himself. Losing your Best Drivers, and Lewis telling him to "Swivel!" What a slap in the face, for the man. And Lewis, brought it all on by not following his team's orders, and causing the team to delay Alonzo's departure, and there you have it, the result. Both Driver's want OUT! The 2007 is at it's end. Whoever wins the WDC and WCC, is tainted. Maybe the TRUTH, did win out after all! Ciao...Paolo
It is interesting that Ferrari has somehow been able to moderate their drivers...what I think you have here at MCL is a bad dictatorship, not a good leadership, (combined with all the other problems) - and that this team may very well be snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Even if they do win, there will always be the dreaded asterisk now.
A shame but true seems like hollow victories either way now.. But I wont my hold your breath you just never know with the way its being going..
Looks like this is turning into a bad soap opera, It really too bad to have Hamiltons great year be messed up by unprofessional people.
Good post, and fully agreed. what a year. i was expecting something totally diff in the 1st yr of post-Schumacher era.
This is a bunch of media crap to stir things up and make Hamilton look like the innocent one. Fernando isn't going anywhere; he'll probably still win the WDC.
I don't know if Ron Dennis/McLaren could have anticipated this (a meltdown) happening. No one expected Hamilton to be as good as he's been ... no one. I think it was clear to everyone (including Hamilton) that Alonso would be #1 and Hamilton would be #2. It only became a battle when Hamilton started to challenge (and surpass) Alonso and the team began to gravitate towards him. It became more of a team with two #1 drivers. Considering that both are new drivers this year made it even more challenging since neither had an edge. Alonso - being a two time world champion - probably feels like he deserves far more attention/support than he is receiving. I also think both Hamilton and Alonso have substantial egos and the team can only manage one of them (effectively) at a time. Ferrari is a different story. I think they made it clear to Massa that if he wanted to be considered #1 he would have to earn it. Simple.
Too many primadonna drivers, too few good cars. The only other competitive car is Ferrari with BMW coming up. The best driver in the world is only a midfielder in an average car. I think I prefered the "old" days when the owners ruled, everyone knew his place and did their job or else...hit the road. Now the drivers seem to think they run the show. Which is why I like Kimi. No antics, ( within the team, what he does on his off time is his affair ) just business. LH is just going thru a rushed learning curve. Alonshole should know better, good riddance, and good luck to anyone that picks him up.
Somebody must have anticipated this because Lewis had it writen in his contract that it could be reopened and renegotiated for millions more than the $300,000 he is now getting if he was leading the WDC after so many races(can't remember how many but it has passed).
See what happens when you don't let your drivers drink... This meltdown couldn't have happened to a better team. Fish rots from the head down.
My prediction in Dec.!! Exactly 11 races... http://74.86.28.138/~ferrari/forum/showthread.php?p=136311278#post136311278
+2 However, I'm starting to doubt he'll be there in '08. The "Planet F1" site is pretty much on par with the National Enquirer where "real" news is concerned IMHO - Attention grabbing headlines and no content. Cheers, Ian
Well, I wonder if Schumi is laughing now.. he didn't seem very pleased at all, when he was handing over a trophy to Ron Dennis at the Nurburgring... but now the M-M team is having so many problems left and right.. ! ~shahedc .
No Kimi likes a beer and doesnt say much FA will make up for that make that Massa... Image Unavailable, Please Login
