I doubt that. I've read numerous times Apple products don't use Bluetooth tech., something many folks wanted to see on the iPhone. I asked if it was true in an Apple store, and they said yes, and probably never will. So far, every Apple store has told me pretty much that.

i actually think, Apple would lose out, should they decide not to apply bluetooth tech. iPhone is a whole lot different things all together. Sony's starting to be pretty aggressive too. only logical if iPod does use the latest tech for the latest range of iPods.

What's kept me from getting an iPod is the invasive, memory-hogging bloatware that is iTunes. Is there a way to communicate with your player without using that junk?

There probably is, but involves something that takes more time than its worth.
My friend, though, had a Video iPod, and apparently, older or low-tech computers with iTunes don't like to run his. Works with with regular iPods, but they don't like the video iPod.

to start with it doesn't want to turn on half the time, even leaving it on charge from mains for oever 48hours,all i get is the apple sign!

i've tried to reboot it,but it doesn't even want to get into disc mode, and when it does go to disc mode,i connect it to the computer and all i get is the sad iPod icon that goes on and off

    anything else i can try?

I'm still using the original Walkman.

It's missing an ear speaker, and I have to turn the little wheels by thumb, but it still works.

I think a little higher of you now.

Every Mac I've used has broken within 6 months.

PC? I'm still using the system I had built for me two years ago & it does Photoshop faster than a MacBook Pro!!!

Sony rocks! I have a Walkman phone. 8GB worth of songs & it was free :)

Apple Inc. is gearing up to unveil a NAND flash-based video iPod in late September, which may aggravate the currently observed NAND flash shortages, according to DigiTimes.

Citing "sources at Taiwan-based component makers," the Far Eastern rumor publication claims the "new iPod video" will use NAND flash as the "major storage media," offering twice as much capacity as Apple's high-end iPhone handset.

"With the launch of the new iPod imminent, together with the recently reported power outage experienced by Samsung Electronics at its fabs, component makers are concerned that overall NAND flash supply may be impacted," the report states.

Apple's current line of video iPods employ bulky 1.8-inch hard disk drives (HDDs), but are the last of the firm's consumer electronics gadgets to do so. Since introducing the iPod nano in 2005, the company has slowly shifted all of its other handheld devices to the more reliable solid-state NAND flash memory.

Analysts have argued that it only makes sense for Apple to progress its video iPod players in the same fashion, as flash storage -- which is more compact and lacks the movable parts of HDDs -- would pave the way for smaller form factor players, as well as improvements to both battery life and durability.

"We believe that the video iPod transition from 1.8-inch hard disk drives to NAND flash memory may occur as soon as late 2007," Prudential Equity Group analyst Jesse Tortora wrote in a February report. "Our checks indicate that Apple is considering canceling its next generation HDD-based iPod design, with the form factor refresh involving a move to NAND flash memory."

DigiTimes, which makes no mention in its report whether the 16GB video iPod model would include a touch-screen interface akin to the iPhone, has been hit or miss on the subject of Apple rumors over the course of time. However, the publication's most recent round of "hits" have outweighed its misses.

Still, it should be noted that DigiTimes as recently as last month reported that a multi-touch video iPod would arrive in August, as opposed to its most recent claims of late September.

its been dropped several times though worked fine until suddenly one day it just stopped working, went to a store and they said i need a new hard drive which would cost around £160,i can buy a new 5th Gen iPod for that much from amazon!!!!

Managed to restore it today though, though disconnect it from a power source and it dies, guessing a new battery might/should fix that

A friend of mine bought a little sandisk mp3 player that has a fm radio built in. She got it for $50 off of ebay. Its about the same size as a nano

I was going to buy an ipod nano but for the tvs at the gym I need a FM radio too. Do you guys know if I would be missing out on anything by going with another brand in place of the ipod?

I've heard Iriver is good too.

thats really bad. maybe all the force of the drop took it's toll. i'm saving some cash for the skin now, it prottects it from dust and scratches.

after that, i'm thinking about a BOSE docking system. problem is, it costs about the price of a 30 gig iPod. :)

i've actually managed to get the iPod to work,in a sense....

it needs a power supply to keep it going, and i use it in my car as i've got an iPod connector, and i'm just using it in there for now,and going to get the battery changed to see if that helps

though it wsa dropped several times, the last time it was dropped before it stopped working was atleast 6 months prior!!!!
