Hey, Danny's on there twice again! Don't look now, but he could be the next 1. charlie_ludden I'll tell ya, I've been thinking about this poker night and something occured to me. Seeing how this is for charity, maybe we should look into getting cheerleaders to coax more money out of the coffers. The dealer will certainly help, but more is always better. You know, someone to make us feel good about losing. Like Hef has at the mansion. Being a fairly big guy, I might need three or four.

Black Jack in a $ 20.00 cash buy in and all monies go to WWW.MOTOR4TOYS.COM The winner with the most money at the end of a period...(most likely 2 or 3 hours TBD) will take home a bottle of 4 Copas Tequila. The terms of the poker tournament are TBD....I am not a poker player Anyone want to take and run with this one? Dusty? John?
Low buy-in casino tournaments tend to start off 10/20 and increase as players fall out. If we did a 40 dollar buy in for 2500 chips (maybe with a single re-buy option) that would probably work well. Maybe offer the winner his/her money back (... or a silver F355 Spider ) and give the rest to M4T.
not to sound like a dumb s@%$ but i am LOL but when you "buy in" for 20$ is that all the cost of the game of do you bet higher and higher like i raise your 20 to 40...or is that poker?
He means that 20 dollars will get you a set amount of chips (more than 20) that you will then use to play the game.
No. Say there are ten people playing. That's 200 dollars total for the entire tournament. You're buying chips, but not at a one-to-one ratio (it's not a dollar per chip). The table minimum will probably be something like 5 chips, and in blackjack it's a good idea to bankroll 40 times the table minimum, so if we just did it that way each chip will have cost you ten cents. I imagine we'll start with more than 200 in chips, though. And you won't have 200 chips in front of you... you'll have some worth 5, some worth 25, some worth 50, etc.. I'll show you the game if you want. If you play methodically (e.g. always stand on hard 18, only hit if it's safe against a dealer's 5 or 6, etc.) you can get as good as about 2% down from 50-50 odds against the house. In other words, you'll lose about as often as you win. You want to vary your bets based on when you think you will win or lose (hence the desirement I stated above for a large margin of chips over the minimum bet). Note: the odds and play style I'm familiar with are for player versus house. We're talking a tournament, and that's different. It's player versus player. In other words, you have to outlast the other guys. Maybe you do so by assuming that, since the odds are against them, THEY'll eventually lose all their chips, so YOU don't ever bet (Bo-Ring). Remember, in poker, if you play it out, one of the players will have all the chips at the end of the night. In blackjack, the dealer will have most of the chips. The player that lasts the longest or has the most when we call it done is the winner. Or you can just play... overthinking something that in the end amounts to nothing more than luck can take some of the fun out of the game.
Im tired of playing wet nurse to you Marv..... Do your own damn homework... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed in all of its forms: greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge, has marked the upward surge of mankind and greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA.
My favorite line is something like: "Back then it [$800,000, if I remember right] was all the money in the world. Now it's a day's pay."
