Took me a while to see the car as well

 

it looks like a guy called Michael Lockington,whom lived in the area and car was dark blue.The Girl? but I do know his girlfriend was killed in the late '70s in a car crash.

 

toorak rd? i don't think so! where are the tram lines? TOORAK perhaps!

 

Photo was taken before there were trams.

 

I believe this is the same 250 SWB as on page 6 of this thread. Photo snapped last year on the Climb to the Eagle. This car forms part of a larger private collection stored in Adelaide.

Yup, If I remember what I read correctly, Read couldn't get his car started up for that run.

Does he still have any kind of involvement with any race teams these days, or gave it all up when he retired from driving?

Would have been nice had the 'Golden Age' of Motorsport and Cars continued into todays age, so many more (including myself) could have experienced it. Lot less political / corporate correctness to spoil the fun.
