Just picked this devil up. I wanted blue, but couldn't find one. This is my second C6 Z06, I had one when they first came out and tracked it extensively, so I know the car well. I sold the first one because I thought it was far too fast for the street, if not borderline socially irresponsible. Yet here I am once again. It's a beast at the track, but it's not very enjoyable for the street, just frustrating. It's bloody fast, but that's all it is. The 360 is much, much more enjoyable to drive, and I'd gladly pay twice as much for a 360.

Is it stupid that I'd consider giving my 04 360 AND the Z06 for an 05 F430? It sounds illogical even to me when I say it, but I probably would do it. Any takers?

Get the Z06 out of the first picture and you have yourself a winner. Awesome taste in cars and colors. If I had to choose only 2 cars, hell it'd be a 335ci and a 360.

(Not hating on the Z06 btw, that thing's a BEAST!!)

congrats Tom... interesting you did not mention anything about the 335i.. love mine as a daily driver and the Procede w/ intercooler/exhaust/Quaife upgrades make it quite a beast! :D

Oh come on now... give the ZO6 a chance. There's a guy that is in the San Diego region's SCCA that did magic with that car and won multiple national titles. The ZO6 should not be underestimated.

I figure its not enough to give up the 360 and Z06 for the F430 you have two cars that are different but thats a good thing, you have diversity in your garage.

Ok Josh I'll mention it: The 335i with Vishnu Procede is awesome, and even more fun to daily drive than the Z06. There, I said it, the Z06 is my least fun car for the street.

Actually the 335i has been a great automotive experience. I did Euro delivery on it, drove it on the Autobahn and Autostrada, tracked it at Nürburgring (one of my life goals), and tracked it again at Barber right after Shiv installed the Procede, the same week I did the M Driving Experience in Spartanburg. It is the best "beater" car I have ever had, and a huge value. In fact, thinking about it now, I may need to order another one ASAP just for the experience of doing Oktoberfest and Nürburgring again this year. I can't wait until the 135i comes out next year.

I didn't realize you had a 335i as well. Now if only I could turn my 360 into a CS and my Z06 into an F430, I'd be as lucky as you! Enjoy em while you can!

Your profile says you have a 360 F1, but you want to get rid of it for a Z06? I would highly advise you not to, it would be a huge mistake.

The more I think about my cars, the more I realize I'm not excited by the Z06 anymore. I bought it to replace my hybrid daily driver, which was just silly. I need another Honda. I'd love to track the Z06 again, but that's all. A C5 Z06 with bolt-ons and track tires would do just as well. For the record, the GT3 is also better on the street than the Z06 in my opinion. But it should be for the price difference, and it still lacks soul. The 360 is my favourite of all.

Anyway, I'll be able to chime in the next time a Z06 vs. GT3 vs. 360/F430 thread sprouts up, which should be right about ...

You 'll find very few things sound illogical to yourself anyway when it comes to trying to acquire a car you have the hots for and I speak from experience as I went through about 6 cars this year trying to find the right one. Ironically I had a chance 10 months ago to get the car that is ultimately the car of my dreams and one I just bought a few days ago. When I started looking about a year ago I wanted a sports car and a nice luxury car that would fit the kids but still have some serious power. First one I bought was an 06' Z06 which as you said is seriously fast, but problems with the top blowing off(factory recall), cheap interior, and noisy cabin at freeway speeds eventually offset the incredible acceleration. Next was an 06 M5 which I returned to the dealer after 5 weeks as it had to be taken into service 4 times for same problem(steering angle sensor, which across the US ended up being a problem on many cars). I then thought I could settle for an Escalade but then missed a sedan with power so traded it back for the Cadillac STS-V.

The STS-V was ok but boring so wasnt long before I sold it and got an 06 Mercedes CLS55 AMG which I absolutely loved and still have. The Z06 finally lost its allure so I sold it to my buddy and bought an 07' 911 Turbo three months ago. As luck would have it a car that I had desired for a long time but either didnt think I should spend that on a car( here's my illogic since the CLS(with upgrades) and turbo cost more than the car I longed for) or one was never available. A phone call the other day informing me that a custom ordered 07 F430 was available because the buyer had backed out and so if I wanted it now was my chance. So I traded in the Turbo plus cash and FINALLY ended up with my dream, a spanking new F430.

So back to your question about trading a Z06 and 360, sounds perfectly logical to me.LOL.. I mean in hindsight I traded out 5 cars (with all 5 taking hits in resale) for my 430. I had neighbors asking me if I worked at a car dealership( evidently one that sold Vettes,BMWs,Cadillacs, Mercedes', Porsches and Ferraris) since I had a different car every couple of months. I simply told them I was searching for the one car that would leave me speechless and totally satiated and while I took a circuitous and expensive route ultimately I found my way to the right car.. So anyway I say go for it

    Good Luck

Congrats on the Z06, nice car. But remember, even for as fast as it may be, it is just a Chevrolet.......:)

    Tom:

I had a feeling you'd end up with the Z.

If you can DD the 335, it sounds like a no-brainer to trade the two for a 430 (or CS).

Would you consider drivng the 430 daily?

Also, check the thread below about WTB: Titanium Strad. Watt mentions one, and aparently the FL car might be available.

We need to meet up soon.

    Regards,

    David

Thanks for the reply. I would certainly enjoy the 430 or the upcoming Scuderia, but let's wait and see what happens.
A CS would be great too, if only money and garage space weren't restrictions...

The Z06 is bad news, it's just way too fast for the street.

I won't get rid of the 360 for the Z06. The Z06 is a track weapon, and the 360 is just a really enjoyable car to drive. I have a 500 hp Evolution right now which will be replaced by a modified Z06 to satisfy my need for a brutally fast car.

There are three choices of superchargers for a Z-06 at $10,000 cranking around 585 at rear wheels. This compares to Novitec charging $72,000 (the cost of a Z-06) to accomplish same with 430. Before we "remove pictures", maybe we should think this through? As an owner of a 430 and Z-06, the 430 is a "perfect" street car that IMHO should not be messed with. On the other hand, for sheer joy of "hot rod" speed, the Z-06 is by far the fastest for the least. Best

Go to C6 Corvette Forum - look under Blue Devil or SS etc. Plenty of chatter speculation. Best

Important to warm tires up before acceleration, especially when flooring it in 2nd or 3rd gear (rear end will break loose). Very soft tires and very sticky once warm (but wear quick). Comparitively, the 430 is a very smooth ride, suspension solid, power more than adequate, overall an excellent road car. Best
