so i get a call from the guys that are shipping my car. Apparently its been on the enclosed trailer with the top only slightly closed (they cant get the top to close all the way). The driver says its almost closed but not fully. Can there be any damage to the top being in that position during transport? Please help ASAP as I need to get insurance and everything moving to claim that. Please help!!!! Thanks:)

If it is an enclosed trailer, I don't see a problem with them keeping it down. It may just be low on fluid. That was all mine needed :).

Why would your seller let your car be sent off in that condition?

No, it's not great to have the top 90% closed (during transport), as the roof structure has very little self-support in that position. It's going to flop around.

There is an emergency tool in the tool kit at the drivers left thigh. It is near the e-brake handle. Inside there is a long threaded rod that can be inserted into the box near between the seats and manually adjust the top. Try that.

(The spider top tool kit at the drivers thigh should also have a pair of gloves and some other junk specifically for spiders. It is a leather case built into the floor of the car with a snap closure)

If the tool is missing, you could pitch a fit at the seller.

    The tool looks like this:

All true, and good advice...but do you really want the *transporter* driver doing that instead of the Seller?!

At the PPI I only saw the top go down.......when you got back to the dealer did you raise it. If so was there a problem?

If hydralic fluid is low WHY wasn't that caught during the PPI???????

I am still confused about the emissions testing done before car was shipped to you. Would you please explain about the emissions testing during the PPI, or at dealer??

Boardwalk Ferrari bleed and filled up the fluid top. Then the car was shipped back to the porsche dealership where they had no idea how to get it to fully come back up. I spoke to them a little while ago and the service manager said it was in the 90% DOWN position and very very stiff so not to worry about it flapping around. He said that it will come back up 90% and that there is a bar that had to be pushed up manually to get it to fully close. Keeping my fingers crossed when i see the car late tonight or early tomorrow.

Shivam, the top went down reasonably well when James at Norwood did it. Who messed with it after that?

Hopefully Boardwalk will reimburse you to have it repaired.

Did you get an emissions test done before car was shipped????? If not why? Did Boardwalk gurantee an emissions pass in NJ?

boardwalk did guarantee the emissions test. I am trying to find out the story with the top. Right now the dealer and transporter are playing the old fashioned game of he said she said.

+1. Sounds kind of half-a$$ed, like someone had the top down before loading for whatever reason.

agreed, but at this point the best thing is to get the car and document everything and then do whatever is necessary
