Has anyone done the homework on the lightest wheels available for the 360s in 18s? Thanks in advance for any info, Scott

Probably the 360 Challenge 18" BBS wheels -as they where made for racing.

Do not confuse them with the stylish 19" 360CS wheels (pictured) which I recently purchased. While these look much nicer with the Pirelli tyres they are not for racing. A set of 4 of them weigh just over 200 pounds! (over 90kgs!) which lets face it is NOT lightweight! Still they look cool on the 360cs (so much for Ferrari trying to reduce unsprung weight... the whole joke about Titanium nuts when the wheels weigh 200 pounds... yeh, right, sure Ferrari, :roll eyes: throw us another marketing gimmick line... sigh ).

These are the lightweight Challenge BBS 18" Wheel's. They have BBS written in RED on them.

I forget how much each corner weighed, but, my I-forged Aero setup is 10-12 pounds lighter, per corner, than the Novitec setup.

Sounds impressive. I was just surprised how much a tyre weights, a lot of the weight is in the tyres!!!

I have sent them an e-mail to give me the weights on those. The lightest wheels I have come across are about 18lbs-19lbs. The average tire size is roughly 25-28lbs for front-rear respectively. So, if you are careful you can get the whole set under 40lbs apiece on average. You don't even want to know how much the stock wheels on my 348 weigh!!!! ;o) Scott

Wow that 40lbs saving over the heavy 19" cs wheels/tyres combo!!

Makes fitting 'titanium' wheel nuts to 'save unsprung weight' seem very gimmicky huh ?

In fairness Ferrari needed to fit 19's so they could fit those huge carbon ccm brakes :) So, who says you cannot improve on a 360cs???

Actually, the 360 Challenge (IIRC) and the ALMS or GT2 cars ran the same SIZE brakes and same calipers, but in iron (the rotors), as required by rules, fitted with 18" wheels, also dictated by the rules. The 19" fitment is more a bow to marketing the "Concept Car Ideal" as drawn by the stylists.

    Scott,
Just be sure ahead of time of what you are getting - the Challenge wheels should fit just fine, but I would be careful of other mfrs., and even models within the BBS line. As I and others have found, sometimes the offset for the clearing the brake caliper, and/or the INNER dimension (diameter) of the barrel will not be enough for clearance.

Incidently, I'm also a fan of the Challenge wheel's spoke pattern - have had essentially the same (BBS RC and CH) on a couple of other cars.

I will be careful putting them on intitially. I have a 348, and the 355 and 360 challenge wheels should fit fine, Scott

Have you weighed the standard 360 'star' wheels yet? Back when I was shopping for track wheels for the 360 they were hard to beat for weight (tires were mounted already, so I could only estimate). Plus you can find them for resale at reduced prices since a lot of owners don't like the looks. I wound up buying a pair of SAC Monolite wheels (no longer available apparently) that were roughly 18-19 lbs, and a set of Kinesis K18Rs. The Kinesis were purposely wider since I wanted to try wider 315/35-18 rear tires, so their weight is a bit more and not directly comparable.

Stock 360 wheels are like 23, and 26 respectively. Chalenge wheels are definately lighter as i recall. They do not look too great on the 348 without machining the rear centers for a different offset. (bring the rear wheels in) I want some that will increase the value of the car, as well as be the lightest I can find. Thanks, Scott
