Of course as the starter of the tread, depending on the price, I would be interested if you get a price for a group buy. I sent them and email about two weeks ago, but have not received a response. I will call them on Monday.

    Here was the quick answer.....

"Tell me a firm number of tops you would be purchasing. As a rule we usually do not discount the tops, but we may be willing to discount them a bit, depending on the numbers. Be advised, our pattern only covers the model years thru 1988. If your vehicle is newer, we would have to discuss options for the top."

So far, if I count correctly, there are nine including myself.

Here is who I have noted as interested so far:
    dogue
    sparta49
    miketuason
    flyingboa
    Gator FL
    silver horse
    4re 4me
    Gerry 328
    jdubbya

Of course the comment about only covering model years through 1988 may change some minds. Should there really be a big difference after '88 though? I wouldn't think the top changed enough to make a difference but I could be wrong.

If anyone else wants in let me know. Could start another thread to call out a group buy I suppose if necessary.

Let's put a deadline of next Friday August 17th and see what happens.

I was thinking for short trips it would be nice to leave the top at home rather than rattling around behind the seats.

$150 or less and I'm in.

I don't know that I'd really every use it but who cares, I have a shelf-full of 328 parts already, one more thing can't hurt. :)

OK, so far we are up to 13 here. I also sent a note through our local FCA chat and have three responses there. That makes a total so far of 16 people. $150 or less seems to be the consensus price, I'll try to get it lower than that or find out how many it would take to get it lower.

+1...as already said, I probably wouldn't use it but I can't be the only one left without one :)

I have been cought in a downpoor in FL...actually didn't get too wet at speed, but the real top takes a little more effort than this one appears to...so I'm in. I like the $25 price range better, but if everyone else is in, so am I.

Here's a pic of what they looked like when they last advertised them. The ones they still sell for other cars go for about $150 so I'm hoping if we get enough people to make it worth their while they will give us a discount. Don't know how much but we'll see.

With gilnsammy that makes 17 total so far. I'm sure the more there are the easier it will be to get a discount! Keep 'em comin' in!

You can't drive with it on. In fact you can't let it get wet at all. It's an easy fast sun shade. That's it.

I am not sure this is appropriate or not but I would like to make an offer. I could make 20-30 of these tops in Sunbrella or equivalent material for about $ 120-130.
I could make the prototype, send it to Verell for "approval" (or maybe some changes/improvements) within 2 weeks and ship the product to each member after another 2 weeks.

I sort of quit my Federal Government job and would like to start an upholstery business specific for the 308 (although it could grow to also a 328) :)

I do not need any ultra specific amounts of tops to make but based on the interest it would already be sufficient.
If this would work out, I would need a small deposit, though.

About the Verell part, I only know him from FC and I would charge him the same as everybody else. I do not want to create the apparence of conflict of interest on his part although I do really believe that Verell is a super intelligent and a beautiful guy. A gift to humankind from someone bigger that the whole universe....:).

Seriously, if you guy think this would be ok please let me know so I can get the wheels in motion.

If this post was inappropriate, I sincerely apologize and it will never happen again.

Send one to me too. I have an original that I can compare it to directly, side by side.
