What are my options for stock looking 16" wheels for my 83 400i ?? It has 415mm TRX rims on the car and I really dont want to buy the tires for the rims. What are the TRX rims worth??

    Thanks

You could put factory 15" wheels as the early 400i's had.

For 16" do a search on Aleventhal's posts. You'll see he uses his as a daily driver and has put 16" wheels on his.

    Zip, zero, nada.

    Or call Superformance in England

They sell replica 308QV 16" wheels in sets of (2) 16X7 rims for the front and (2) 16X8 rims for the rear. I spoke with Colin there and he said they'd sell me four 16X8 rims for my 400i for the same price, which is around $1,200 USD. I have their rims on my 308 and have no complaints.

    Cheers,
    Aaron

I haven't tried it yet, but will plan to put 348 wheels on my 400i. I started with 16" Mondial-T rims (which look like the 412 rims), but finally concluded that as long as I was going with spacers/hubs I might as well go to 17". I expect the car still looks "right." Otherwise, the 8" 308 replicas (with the deep offset) still look great....

Btw, you may know already; TRX wheels are good for jacking up the car, but otherwise have no market value at all...Lee

you 400 guys are lucky. when i looked at this issue, I was faced with having to re-design the rims to 16" and make a batch of 250 rims due to my center knock-off. Pretty rims, but wow the price was steep. I would look at BBS as an alternate.

We used Compomotive to make wheels for us in the road racing days. Not stock appearing, but whatever offsets and diameters with a fair amount of choices. I will keep the stock 15's on my 365 GT4. They may even make one off centerlocks. Reasonable priced. www.usacomp.com
