Absolute Insanity! A couple years back he said he hated Nascar. I just don't get it. Apparentl JPM changed his mind. Plus the comment he made during the USGP Speed TV interview about "a bunch of cars bangin into each other. Oh that sounds like it could be fun." Or something to that affect. YAWN! Oh Well! If he does go to Nascar, I hope he does better than he did at STR.
Money talks! I guess he hasn't looked at the Red Bull NASCRAP performance, I don't watch but I believe they have failed to qualify quite often. Makes me happy since AJ Allmindinger (?) left a great ride in Champ Car for it, he's dead to me as a fan of real racing.
They're a new team so it's harder to qualify. They're not guaranteed a spot to race since they're not in the top 35 (out of 43 spots I think) in owners points.
Well, a man needs a job right? I'm not surprised, because I just read this earlier: http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2007/8/6621.html "Former Toro Rosso driver Scott Speed has revealed he is heading back to the United States, after his premature exit from Formula One racing earlier this month. Speed was replaced by German driver Sebastian Vettel following a run-in with the teams management at Julys European Grand Prix." ... ".. I am coming back to America on a fact-finding tour, looking at the various racing series, and talking with some of the top American teams. If not NASCAR, then where else would he go? I'm not a NASCAR fan, but that should pay the bills for him, and he'll definitely make the news for this. ~shahedc .
When your a professional anything, you go to where the money is. He gave his dream a shot, fell short, now its time to move on.
How many more F1, Champ Car, and IRL guys are going to make the switch before the NASCAR faithfuls (read: rednecks) start revolting? I vote 2...Alonso when he's fired from McLaren and some one else, not sure who though.
Heidfeld, maybe? (F1 management across the field seems to have come down with a case of the dumbs.) I'm wondering how long before fans start insisting that NAScar machines start having real cars under the plastic bodies, again?
Have you ever been to an F1 trace...especially in Europe? Now that's where you'll find the most low life's ever to be called part of the human race...to be a considered a red neck is 1,000 steps above that crowd...
Lol...I can't say I have ever been to an F1 race in Europe, but I have been to the USGP and I will be going to the Belgium GP in September. The crowd at the USGP was without a doubt of a much higher social class than that which you will see at a NASCAR race, and trust me, I've been to plenty NASCAR races. You should probably try explaining your point again.
If this is the case, then considering both JPM and Speed will be in Nascar, I might have to start watching it! This doesn't surprise me though, because there was a video interview with him driving a street car with a journalist riding shotgun and interviewing him. Speed said he'd like to try Nascar one day after his F1 career, but when asked about Champ car or Indy, he responded "I can't see myself doing that" in a tone that sounded like he was turned off from Indy and CC completely.
i rather see him in champ car than nascar. hes not gonna win anything in nascar just like f1 but atleast he got the chance to drive the greatest racing machines ever and race at the best tracks around the world. if he went to champ car he could win races and maybe championships. with nascar hes prolly not going to qualify for races just like almendinger or whatever his name is. if i was him i would stay in f1 and be a test driver for spyker or go to champcar and race for one of the top teams then race in nascar.
Scott is backed by Redbull, why would Redbull pay for him to race against their own teams in a Spyker? Also, Spyker testers rarely get into the car, maybe twice during the season. Champ car I would agree with, but if he doesn't want to do it, he doesn't want to do it.
AJ is probably the most talented of the young drivers in the US. He does not want to go through the same wringer that Speed just came out of.
He's also got one of the worst attitudes out of all the drivers. He's the one person that makes Danica look good. (I'm talking attitude!! Dont get the wrong idea!)
He was blocked in, then attacked by that scrawny ass Harvick. JPM knew not to hit someone with a helmet on, even with a gloved hand. Did JPM ever use owner points this year? Somebody above was probably correct, how many of these interlopers can NASCAR stand and still be NASCAR?
As NASCAR evolves, it may just suplant F1. Needless to say we're years from that happening. And I really hate it when it comes on the same time as wreslin and ultimate fightin.
