bought others in 05 like BHP at $20 , RIO at $58 , WPL at $30 etc . you must take a longer view with them , say 2 years . quick money to be made in the short term , but a lot riskier than holding for the future .

yep if i buy in it will be with a view to sit on them for a couple of years, or at least until some massive gains are made.

maq bank does seem very underpriced, its the obvious choice...but say I had $15k to drop in should I go 100% into Maq or spread over 2 or 3...its these decisions i will struggle with as a newcomer

broker will tell you , but spread them across a few like BHP , RIO , ASX , MAQ . grab only 10k , margain lend another 10k and you have 20k to tip in . leaves you 5k up your sleeve if 5hit hits the fan .

DISCLAIMER: by no means are the above stock selections guaranteed any returns , check the prospectus to see if these stocks fit your risk profile :D

BHP is at $33 , should hit $40

maq bank is $66 , should hit $100

but you'll get more stock for you money from BHP . the question is when are they going to jump again , and at what speed individually .

hehe of course, its all to be taken as opinion not advice...no probs

makes sense though, all too aware of the old eggs in one basket saying...will look into it next few days. this may be a great time to sink some $$ in

re: above post, yeah, you cant be 100% sure, thats why the 18mnth + hold period makes good sense to me....

    i thought that a week ago when maq was $75 , now it's $66 , go figure .

we will never pick the top and the bottom of stock , so it's about getting close . plenty of times i have missed the top and cashed out earlier and taken the profit when there was more on the table if i had held out a little longer .

old saying " you never make a loss taking a profit "

pretty good one i reckon .

yep makes sense to me...well you bought in at $75...im now somewhat 'closer to bottom' at $66....should perhaps take that as an opportunity rather than sitting on hands and watching it head towards mid-70s again before buying in

    stock review 101 LOL

check how they are travelling , strong cash flows , strong divs for shareholders , strong growth , and the best one , P/E ratio .

    stick to basic fundamentals

looks like a 6% return on investment atm.

you'd want serious capital gain for it to be worth it.

of course, there are much worse out there.

My sister has an on-line trading account and does all her own trades. It's all very straightforward (surprisingly so, I thought!).

I just showed my sister this thread and that vid, her only comment was, "why don't we see that kind of performance on Lateline Business?" :D
    But his thoughts are alarming.
