I have to carefully watch what I eat/drink due to diabetic concerns... one of the drinks I actually LOVE is Diet Mountain Dew Code Red (in bottles). Its not available anywhere on the east coast, but I know it's in California.

I know shipping it in small amounts would be cost prohibitive, but lets say someone was interested in ordering a few pallets of the stuff to be delivered via truck freight. I don't think the local bottler that sells this flavor would allow a one-time order for a retail customer. So what would be the best way to do it? Where would you actually buy the stuff? I know this sounds nuts but it would bring a modicum of pleasure to an otherwise tasteless life of boring unenjoyable drinks.

So how would one go about doing this? Calling Pepsico doesnt yield any results.

Did the stores in your area tell you they can't get it? Unless it's a dangerous product, it doesn't make sense that a store wouldn't be able to get it for you.

Well when I called PepsiCo they told me that the product is produced by local bottling factories. They supply the ingredients and the local factory generally bottles it (often meaning they mix it with water, add the stuff, make the cans, etc). Pepsi told me that the "stuff" for diet code red is not sold or distributed to anywhere on the east coast. I asked if they were prohibited from getting it or if this drink was a west-coast thing. She said she doesnt know and cant really tell me if she did know, but just that its not available here.

So there's not a single store anywhere up and down the east coast that sells the stuff. She couldn't tell me how far west they sell it, I just know it was in Cali when last I was there.

I ship stuff truck freight all the time, a couple of pallets would probably be hundreds of bottles per pallet and I bet from Ohio to Boston it would maybe be $200 or something. Just gotta figure out where the closest place and how I go about arranging the transaction :)

Let me see if I can find anything out for you. It's a bit late to look into this until next week for you.

When you say bottles, are these the plastic bottles? Do you care the size?

I really appreciate that... I believe I have only ever seen it in the 12Oz bottles, but I did find a press release that they were "expanding the brand" to include 2-liters. I find it tastes a lot better from a bottle than from a can, and I prefer not to have 2-liters because it goes flat before I finish it. 12Oz, 20Oz or 24Oz is all the same to me, if I could choose I'd take whatever was the best cost-per-ounce among those three sizes.

The folks at Pepsi were very nice and friendly, but said Code Red was a marketing test drink that took off. Its been around since 2002 and the diet since 2003. She could not tell me if the diet Code Red will ever come to New England and could not tell me the farthest East state that would have it. My main issue was just the logistics of all this - even if I befriended a convenience store owner, I dont know if those guys get to choose how much product they get or if they have to do a blanket order. In other words, it may not be possible for them to order me a bunch of the product :) Also, I know I've gotten the 12Oz bottles for $.99/bottle, so I dunno how much I'd get it for if I bought, say, 1000 bottles (or if it comes on a pallet, how many bottles per pallet).

If there was someone who owned a convenience store, pizza parlor, food shop, or was "in" at a wholesale place like Sams or Costco, maybe they would be able to order a bunch for me and I could send a truck to get it :)

If you are able to find anything out I would muchly appreciate it Letsjet, its not life or death but I was drinking this lemonade crap and realized how much I hate it, and how great Diet Code Red tasted :)

Hmmm... you are in Cali, don't you have a college-aged kid that would do a NoDoze laden run to Boston for a few hundie? :)

Or to paraphrase Obi Wan... "I just want transport for me, these two pallets and NO questions" ;)

If you're ever on trial for interstate trafficking of verboten sodas...

    SRT Mike: You want answers?

Coffee: I think I'm entitled to them.

    SRT Mike: You want answers?

    Coffee: I want the truth!

SRT Mike: You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has coasts. And those coasts have to be guarded by bartenders with sodaguns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Diet Soda and you curse the Distributors. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Diet Sodas, while tragic, probably saved calories. And my thirst, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves calories...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.

We use words like Mountain, Code, Loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very trucking I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a soda and drink it down. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

Coffee: Did you order the Code Red?

SRT Mike: (quietly) I did the job you sent me to do.

Coffee: Did you order the Code Red?

    SRT Mike: You're ******* right I did!!

Wouldn't you think Pepsi would be able to tell you the closest place geographically they sell the ingredients to ?

Maybe you need a new thread titled 'Do they sell Diet Mountain Dew Code Red in your area, and where are you ?'
And also put that thread in the Region nearest to you ??

You might try going to your local Wal-Mart Supercenter and chatting with one of the managers. I'm pretty sure Pepsi is still in charge of ordering/stocking soda in the stores, but I know individual Wal-Mart stores have placed orders for customers in the past similar to what you're describing.

I thought I was alone in this. Two years ago mtn dew came out with LIVEWIRE over the summer here, and I had found my soda. Then they just stopped carrying it. I found out that the distributor down here had some agreement to only sell one orange drink, and that was orange crush. I Have been able to go to my local grocery store and get them to special order some for me. It is quite a pain, so inbetween I drink diet code red.(Almost as good just not the same.)

    WAX!!! HAHAHHA

    Mike,
I work in a Super Wal-Mart (no comments please), and would be happy to see if we could get it for you, shipped to a store near you. Let me know if you can't find the stuff in the next couple of days and I'll ask around.

This post inspired to to walk into my local 7-eleven and pick one up. Boy, was it refreshing...

On a side note, I also picked up some new mountain dew "gaming fuel" drink. It tastes very much like code red, but unfortunately, they do not make it in diet.

    Best of luck!
