michiel ive only just discovered this thread (i do recall the pics form the p4/5 thread tho) and i have to say i love it. from the pics ive seen i personally would prefer the angle of the back end to be a bit more vertical (as per original gto) but it does look fantastic why would you have to ask ? ok its a bit more involved but technically you are simply your putting new panels on an existing ferrari, its still therefore a ferrari. if i was to (god forbid) put a massive bodykit on a ferrari its still a ferrari, as is your rebody - and its well recognised universally thats a cars identity is its chassis not its panels
It is so wonderful to see both yours and Freitas' designs receive such well deserved popular acclaim. The 599 GTO so captures a classic rounded sensual flow and proportionality that NEVER goes out of style or is subject to whim or fickle fancy. As is always said, "Class will tell." Best of everything!
Profile looks pretty much perfect - Still not sure about the fish mouth grill though ? What about sending out some personal letters & photo's to styling guru's asking for their opinions - Ian Callum, Gordon Murray, Tom Tjaarda, Marek Reichman etc Argento
My first post, and I would like to congratulate Michiel on his creation, and its achievements through out the world. I have your design set as my wallpaper on my PC, so I look at it everyday (just about). I think what you have done with the 599 is great ( although I know the 599 is only a donor). However I think your version of it is much better than the original, ( I'm sure the 599's wheels were bought from Rover/MG when they went bust). With regards to the car being recognised by its chassis rather than its body, I would just like to say that 250 Breadvan built by Count Volpi, is considered as a GTO although it is actually a SWB, and who knows in 40-50 years time your 5 cars will command prices in the region of what the breadvan commands today. Breadvan link http://www.*************/cars/3181.html I would love to see photos of you starting the work and progress updates ( on a new thread), When do you plan on starting on chassis no 1, and when should it roll out of the workshop ?
Thanks! Our coachbuilder recently had the actual Breadvan in his workshop for a 'nosejob'. Oh, how I love this magnificent car! It will be Coachwork #1 instead of Chassis #1. Development is still in progress and will continue for a while, so no delivery date has been set yet. She's going to be a beauty and much better looking (IMO) than the first PS sketches you've seen so far. Just wait when you see what the design has become based on the actual underpinnings of the GTB Fiorano... In a few weeks we'll present a design update.
I can't wait to see how it could be improved, please post here if you are going to show these pictures on another thread.
Well, the first sketches you've seen in post #1 of this thread were nothing more than a first styling idea. There was no technical layout yet. Later we decided to apply this design onto the 599 GTB and many lines, proportions and details had to evolve to fit the 599's packaging. Finetuning is still in progress and we will continue doing this during many designreviews including many aero analysis iterations. She is slowly becoming a grown up sexy lady.
Hello all first Post! First off I think a big congratulations are in order ... The design is stunning ... Since earlier in the thread u mentioned u welcomed feedback I hope this small suggestion finds its way into the 3d model ... I noticed that the rear fender bulge starts very close to the shutline of the doors .. If this area is not handled right unfortunately it will look out of proportion .. I do not know if u feel the same way about, for example, the Aston Martin Vanquish. The look of that car IMHO was always compromised by a rear section that was too heavy set ... I am not a designer so I dont know if there are any relational lines one must keep in mind but if the degree to which the car gets wider at the rear isnt too sudden maybe the advese effects could be mitigated? Since there is no full 3d version in the public domain yet maybe my concern is unfounded Hope this small observation helps .. Wishing u all the success in the world
Welcome! Thanks! Evolved 3D-design will be published in this thread in a few weeks. I ensure you your concern is unfounded and you will understand once you've seen the 3D model, but thanks for the contribution. Thanks again and enjoy your visits here on Fchat!
Hey man. I absolutely love the design of this car, the tribute it pays and just the overall look of it! Hope this is a success, can't wait to see new pics of it
I think popular demand may be for greater than 5 Thx for the response and I will eagerly await the next iteration
Glad to hear that the project is prgressing - I look forward to seeing the updated 3D pictures. THose pictures of the 599 development mule that are currently all over the internet aren't anything to do with your project are they?
Michiel, as you know I just can't wait to see the results of Alwin's craftsmanship. He is a true sheet metal hero! If there will be a 1:43 scale model, I'd love to have it
