I experimented once with this techinque. Something I deduced was that with the 18 to 200 I think there is some amount of distortion at 18. I tried doing a panorama of a waterfall but had too much distortion at the edges to get it to match up. What was improved in cs3 that changed? I'm going to load that up tomorrow. cheers ken
Here are three 3-frame panoramas i've taken. I always shoot wider than planned, pick an object to be my "corners," then put that in the frame with decent space to spare. I do the merging manually - make one frame about 3.5 the width and 1.3x the height of a single frame and start lining them up. I use just the eraser tool with a soft brush to blend the edges - really huge in the sky (like 80px or more), and smaller for the ground areas. Big thing is to leave plenty of space at top and bottom for cropping as you line up points on the horizon. It seems the spiders are taking over this year. Well them and the ants that is. I snapped a few pics but only a couple turned out even decent. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
16 x zoom on a digital camera, when its really fare zoom the picture's dont come out as good always.... this camera is 10 mp
Those look great! I think kvisser was right about the distortion at 18mm on my lens. I'll have to try again zoomed in a bit. Panaromas are pretty fun to play with, but I don't see myself using the technique all that often. It's good to know how to do it though in case the situation presents itself. Awesome shots, Ryan.
Did a little impromptu photoshoot with a friend today on his bike... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
yah, because at full zoom you break from optical to digital. Digital zoom is no different than opening a picture and blowing it up.
Personally, I think the effect is very cool. I'd love a higher-res copy. Here is another p-shop stitching. This one was made by a guy on a different car forum. It's very well done. Full res is 26MP.
Sorry for all the posts... thought I'd actually add something to the thread. Took it a couple of weeks back, but haven't gotten around to sharing. Crappy downsizing, btw. Sorry. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks. The full-res version is actually pretty cool. When it gets shrunk down so small, it loses something. PM me your email address and I'll send you a link to the full version. BTW - I didn't see a panorama in your post.
