I bought my '99 355 and I am in process of refining the details that the car needs. One of the major issues is that the interior door handles are "squished" between the door and the pull, making them difficult to open. I went to Ferrari to make sure that there were no missing spacers or parts, and they are all there.

I thought that the CF door skins might be bumping the interior door out, thus compressing everything. The car has Carbon Fiber interior door skins which were applied onto the factory leather...which I thought were aftermarket. Upon disassembly I found out that the door skins are Factory, with the Ferrari logo and serial#. They were produced around the same time as the car. I think that the leather is causing the carbon to space out making everything misaligned.

Does anyone have the same factory skins? If so, should the leather be removed prior to appling the CF?

I do not want to remove the leather only to find that it was supposed to stay. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Simple solution is to get some flat washers to put a little space between things so the handle does not rub. On my 355 with the standard interior, I was having the inside door pull rub a bit on the leather door "pull" or grab handle. I removed the screw holding the handle and put a flat washer in to space out the pull a bit. Works perfectly now. Try it. :) The only problem is if you need a washer on each side, the screw may end up too short, which means you may need to source a longer one.

I did that and it worked ok, but did not cure some of the cosmetic issues. At the back side fo the door you and see about 1/4" of the leather as in the lower left picture, and the door "bulges" slightly at the handle trim area...not a lot, I am just pickey.

Not real sure, but this appears to be a factory Fiorano door skin misapplied over a reg. 355 leather door panel. May want to ask Shivam who just purchased a factory Fiorano. Have him look at his door panels. IMO the leather should have been removed if it is continuous under the entire CF panel, certain portions of the leather are needed to only cover areas NOT covered by CF.....but others will be more knowledgeable on this. I can't find that P/N.....have Daniel at Ricambi check this as none of my parts manuals list the Fiorano upgrades.

Wow!! Factory parts??? That is cool :)!!! I wonder how much of that other carbon is 'factory'??

One would think that the factory would install the carbon 'instead' of the leather, rather than 'over' it. At least that way they would not be adding weight.

Never the less that is cool stuff. When I first saw your pictures, I thought it fit unusually well for aftermarket ;) and now knowing it is factory....... well that explains it :)!

It seems to me that the leather should have been removed prior to the CF installation. If so, that works out well because now I have factory leather to recover the upper door pods where the last owner cut in the tweeters.

Also, The issue with spacing the grab handle is that the door release still rubs the door panel, the only way to resolve this would be to get the door panel closer to the metal portion of the door.

Also, does anyone know the Vin#'s of the Firano's? Is this from xxx to xxx?

The dash was recovered before. Could this be a fiorano missing the dash badge?

Is the center console CF too?

Edit: just saw the pics in the other thread...everything screams fiorano! It might be.

Or, one of the previous owners spent a ton of money to duplicate the Fiorano Edition.

either way, it's a gorgeous car, congrats!

Contact 285ferrari to get the Fiorano serial numbers, i am sure he has them...

Looks like you have the missing one :D

Doug at DC is very knowledgable on these cars, I am surprised if he missed this Fiorano.
    But it happens

I do not think this is a Fiorano, but I could be wrong. It appears from the door panels that one of the owners of this car bought some of the Factory Fiorano CF pieces, and then found a CF mfg to do the rest,i.e.dash pod, dash defroster vent trim rings, etc. VIN # will tell the story.

If you remove the ECU cover there should be a P/N on it, if it does not match the P/N for the std. 5.2 that would be a dead give away, that is if the rumors of the Fiorano having a different ECU is factual.

I believe the sway bars are different, and the suspension and abs controllers may be differnet also....there again, all of this is based on second hand info.

Shivam should be able to help out on this as he has just received his Fiorano.

Pretty sure it's not, but it's nice to dream.

The fender badges are not indented, which I believe is a marker.

Yes, you are right. Probably not a Series Fiorano then.

Yes, all the Fiorano's have the factory sheilds. Also have CF door sills, center council surround and instrument cluster/radio surround. They did not have CF door panels. All the parts can now be purchased aftermarket.

    Very nice 355 BTW

No Serie Fiorano car--The VIN is too early on the production run..Sorry..They started the run about 400 cars after yours in 1999...
