New 355 owner/ error codes

First welcome to Fchat and congrats on the purchase!!!

But to address your problem...sounds shady to me, no way that stuff just went wrong. The seller reset the codes and sold it quick (takes many miles / cold starts before the CEL comes on). So first action is going back to the seller for mis-representing the car...unless I'm missing some details on the transaction.

I had the air injection code, had to replace my air pump (found one for $300 used). Also may just need a fuse. Never had to trace down the other codes...

Edit: at least yours came with a check engine light, mine had been removed!

 

Is your exhaust bypass valve wired open?? That will trigger the "efficiency" coeds in no time flat. What aftermarket parts or mods are on the car??

 

Th bypass valve diaphram is just under the MAF, look below it and you will see an actuator rod going to the side of the 'valve' butterfly body. Make sure the engine is cold and check if the rod extending from the diaphram is all the way up or down.

When you look at the engine compartment standing a the rear of the car..... there will be two black aluminum "shoe boxes" with ferrari logo right in front of you, about shoulder width apart. They are joined together by a rubber duct then it feeds into the "MAF" (mass airflow sensor) a plastic tube with a round connector on the right side.

Anyway, right below and slightly to the right of the MAF, there is a gold colored cylindrical metal part with a vacuum line going to it. That is your bypass valve vacuum actuator diaphram.

I'll let you guys know what happens when the valve is wired open, plan to try this tomorrow to listen to the sound change. I'm not sure mine is working, so want to open 'er up to hear it.

 

You should be able to hear it change sounds around 2800-3500 RPM depending on what gear you are in. I can hean mine open pretty well. I have stock exhaust and Hyperflow cats.

 

ok wired mine open today, sounds awesome!!! clearly wasn't opening before...guess it may be a solenoid not pulling it's weight. Need to do more reading on pros and cons of wiring open...

 

The valve simply works off vacuum, if yours is not working, check the rubber hose and clamps for a leak. Otherwise the valve itself maybe sticky or broken. They are way expensive to replace, but you may be able to find a machine shop that can fix it.

Wiring it open WILL set off a "check engine" light.
