It seems to me that the next step is to find out how Ferrari allowed one of its employees to disclose confidential info to a non-Ferrari team member and to then punish that Ferrari employee to the fullest extent of Italian law allows

Franklin, I am pretty sure that is what is going to happen to Nigel Stepney. I think both of these jerks (Stepney and Coughlan) should do time, and never be allowed to work in F1 again.

    Regards,
    Tony

Stepney and Coughlan go to prison, and Kimi and Felipe come back to take the Championship :) (wishful thinking)

I would not want to be in Stepney's shoes facing an italian judge ...let alone an italian prison.
EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW BY NOW THAT FERRARI REPRESENTS ITALIA.

IMO it depends on this race outcome...if Ferrari wins big time, I mean a 1-2 and McLiaren only gets one car to the finish line, then it starts to diminish the outcome...BUT if we do nothing worthy...then the courts outcome gains importance...everything in the name of the constructors championship...

...Ferrari wants that WCC badly, turning 60 years and winning the championship was priority No.1 this year...that will make enough for another cool poster, the 61st poster when Ferrari wins F1 world constructors championship 2007.

IMO, FIA needs to find out how McLaren-Mercedes allowed one of its employees to accept confidential info from a rogue and now ex-Ferrari employee, and to then punish both and perhaps even McLaren-Mercedes team, to the fullest extent of both Italian & British law allows should it becomes evident and proven, that McLaren-Mercedes' involvement does indeed goes beyond one single McLaren-Mercedes employee.

I would imagine, that it would be a little like someone stealing inside engineering info from Motorola.

The US government would definitely take a dim view of that.

Or it could be like that secretary from Coke trying to sell secrets to Pepsi.

Oh wait, that doesn't meet with preconceived notions...

Senna, he was actually trying to sell the old formula for NEW coke.

Unfortunately, it met neither the smell nor the taste test.

They already had plenty of day-old Pepsi.

    Dennis fears for McLaren`s reputation
    Monday 27th August 2007

Fantasy F1 - Win a trip to Monaco!
It's not too late, point scoring starts at the Bahrain GP. Click here.

Ron Dennis fears McLaren's results this season will be "tainted" if the team doesn't come out of the Appeals hearing with an "unblemished reputation."

McLaren face the Court of Appeals in Paris on 13 September where once again they will have to try to clear their name in the Stepneygate scandal that rocked F1 this season.

While Ferrari maintain that McLaren knew that Mike Coughlan was in possession of Ferrari documents, the Woking team has always protested their innocence.

However, it's now up to the Court of Appeals to decide McLaren's fate and Dennis is hoping that in doing so they will exonerate his team in the spy scandal.

"We are in F1 to win. But the most important thing is not just winning, it is how we win," he said. "I do not know what twists and turns are going to take place in the Court of Appeal.

"If we do not come out of that Court of Appeal with an unblemished reputation then the results of this season will be tainted.

"I know the truth and the truth is that McLaren as a company are not involved in this matter. And I just do not want to find through some process that our reputation is damaged.

"The rumours and spin that I have heard about this matter just leave me amazed.

"I cannot believe that people can construct some inaccurate views based on no fact whatsoever and be quite comfortable to project them into the pack as being true. It is ridiculous."

    Post to del.

    End of Planet F-1 article.

    Questions:

Why is Coughlan on suspended and not fired?
Why hasn't RD promised to punish the wrongdoers?
Why did McLiaren hold on to the stolen information and not report the theft to the authorities?

Me thinks he protests too much.

Me thinks he has hired a PR firm to polish their image, and that is why his wife was over-conspicously hanging around the paddock and Lewie-Daddy wasn't.

    Regarding RDs wife? Niiiice.
