Ah, the joys of a volatile industry. While not planned or even expected, I have taken a new job in Houston. Tommorrow is my last day with J. Andretti Motors, and I start at Driver Source in Houston next Monday. You will still be graced with my occasional presence at DFW events, as I'm not uprooting the family until next year and will be M-F commuting to Houston and back in DFW on the weekends.

Thanks for letting me continue to crash the local events. Hope the Houston folks are equally friendly!

If I can make it to ECN this weekend, it will be a triple celebration: last ECN, new job, and the 25th is my birthday. However, I am leaving for Houston on Sunday, so maybe not such a good idea. I don't want or need to pull a "Tillman."

you should enjoy Houston - hopefully. Don't know about Andretti as an employer. I can say that I was treated pretty miserably and blown off couple of months ago when I stopped in to ask about a buying an additional 996 for my wife. An african american guy wouldn't take down my info but said I should call back if I ever saw anything on the lot but warned me that these cars they keep in stock were very expensive

best of luck with the move

Good for you Chet, sounds good. Everyone needs to pull a "Tillman" now and then. :D Houston will be great, but sounds like racism is a little more prominent there.

Once a decade I get drunk, and my name becomes a descriptor? Man, there's just something WRONG with that.

Besides, I didn't end up naked in a ditch or in jail, so how bad could it have been? :D :D

Good luck with your transition, if Driver source is where I think it is, it's just around the corner from my families old body shop on Dairy Ashford. (Behind Jason's Deli)

I know some excellent Benz & BMW mechanics around that area, let me know if you need any contacts for anything. (parts, supplies, supplemental cost effective repairs, etc..)

    Best of luck.

    CHET!

Only took you a year to follow me, eh? :)

Welcome to H-town. I can't say it is "home" yet....but I can't complain. I live not far from Driver's Source. I may just have to swing by and say hi.

It's a descriptor for you because it's out of the ordinary. For other people on the board (Rob? Rob who?) it's a way of life. :D

I've always been of the mindset that DFW FerrariChatters are a drinking club with a Ferrari problem. I found my tribe!

Without going into too much detail, let's just leave it at Andretti (which has very little to do with the actual Andretti family, btw) not being what it could have / should have been. Driver Source promises to be more reqarding and has some real potential. I am looking forward to the change, if not necessarily the commute!

Still debating ECN, have dinner with family that night and leaving for Houston Sunday, so maybe just a cameo.

Yeah, didn't waste a lot of time getting out of there. Got out in such a rush I left a couple of things on my desk! Now I have to stop back in to pick them up. Taking a few days to chill and pack before I head south.
